Question about 1997 Chevrolet Suburban
Mt trans will bang out of odrive for a split second and bang back to 3rd it would seem ,When cruising at random speeds .throttle pos sens has been replaced .a o2 sensor code comes up now & then but when I drive it for a couple of hours it goes away .77k miles -I don't think the trans filter has been changed I've owned it since 42k.The truck does sit alot as it's our spare Veh.
Also truck seems to shift ok otherwise 1st 2nd etc.,just has a mind of it's own.
can anyone help Thanks Dale
this is a possible issue with your Dog Clutch or your gear selector. The dog clutch is a sliding selector mechanism which is splined to the output shaft, meaning that its hub has teeth that fit into slots (splines) on the shaft, forcing it to rotate with that shaf. now if this is worn off, there is a tendency that it may not hold the gear selector in place leaving it it going a gear down or on a specific gear. you may want to consult a friend who have done DIY on the truck else a professional mechanic will pin it down and have it repaired.
You may also want to change your trans filter.
hope this helps.
