Question about 2006 Mercury Montego

1 Answer

Electronic Throtle I have brought my 2006 Mercury Montego to a Ford Dealer when the throtle stopped working and the wrench and engin light came on. They put in a new electroinic throtle housing and it happened again this weekend. I am wondering if they know what theey are doing.

You should have some guarantee for the money you paid. The dealer should offer to tow your car in. Discuss if they installed a bad part or made a bad guess. If anything they should not charge you for a bad guess. Let the dealer try to resolve this and if you don't get satisfaction ask for an appointment with the factory representative. Sometimes a fresh eye from another mechanic will help.

Lowbeams will not shut off drivers side on my 2006 mercury montego have replaced HID ballast 3 times still wont shut off just drivers side????

The ballast wasn't the issue then, no new part would fail that quickly, just doesn't happen. You need to see a Ford dealer service department or a Ford savvy repair shop.

My wrench light comes on when i hit 40 mph and i start to loose power. 2004 Ford F150 5.4 liter, electronic throttle body

You will need to scan the computer and see what codes are stored, this may be caused by a bad gas pedal sensor or a bad throtlebody asm, this is a little dificult for a regular person to diagnose due the the reasons that a scan tool is needed and also knowing about the system. without a scan tool you will just be guessing. i would first recommend checking with the dealer for any recalls on this problem, if this is not warantied then first go to an auto part store and check the codes, they will scan it and give you the codes, write me back with the codes and i will try to help you, a common problem with these is the throtlebody goes bad, the sensors inside the throtle go bad but get me the code first. good day.

2006 mercury montego. DTC codes: 2104, 2121, 2126, 2131. Throws a check eng light then the wrench light. Car runs but loses acceleration. ETB and APP sensor changed. No change.

These codes relate to an electronic throttle body fault. Normally its from dirt, hardening oil deposits jamming the throttle body movement. Try cleaning the throttle body first before going down the replacement route. Hope this helps....
