Question about Saab 9 3

Open Question

Serpentine belt 2000 Saab 93

How much should I expect to pay for labor and parts to have a new serpentine belt put on? Can I get an estimate for just replacing the belt and another estimate if the pulley system needs to be replaced. I know rates are determined by region but If I could at least get an understanding of how many hours it take to do that would be great.

Do you know which pulley froze up? Depending on the pulley will depend on what you need to replace.

SOURCE: on a 2001 saab 93 turbo can can you bypass the ac

You can bypass both the AC compressor and the middle serpentine idler pulley with a 6PK1790. The middle pulley is bypassed by running the belt straight line from the upper rear serpentine idler straight to the power steering pulley, then over the water pump (the smooth pulley powered by the back side of the belt) and down to the engine drive pulley (harmonic balancer), bypassing the AC compressor) This works fine. On 9.5 models, the same basic idea, but a slightly different sized belt.

I have a 1993 subaru legacy wagon and just had the belt(s) for the alt and a/c replaced and Midas says I should replace the "serpentine" belt now too for a cost of $700. Does the car have a serpentine...

Your car does have a serpentine belt, and it costs like $12.00 new. I had a friend of mine who was a mechanic, and he put mine in when it went bad for free. It didn't take him very long, so I'm not sure how that $700 estimate can be accurate. Even if you bought a belt at a store and paid $75/ hr labor at a garage it shouldn't over $100...It just doesn't take that long. You do need a specific tool for the belt tensioner, but Midas is trying to rip you off.

How much will it cost to replace a timing belt on a ford escort 1994

The belt costs about 15 dollars from Autozone, you can install it yourself with a book, Haynes or Chilton, also availiable from Autozone. If you take your car to a local repair facility you can expect to pay at a minimum 2 hours of labor plus parts and shop charges. Your local repair facillity should be able to give you an estimate over the phone. Hope this helps, let me know.

Amount of time expected to do a head gasket, water pump on a 97 olds achieva 2.2?

I'd expect to pay anywhere from 8-12 hours of labor. A head gasket is a tremendously time-consuming job and takes a lot of work. You'll also be paying for other parts (intake and exhaust manifold gaskets have to be replaced, new coolant, new oil since both are drained before the job starts), and if you're doing a water pump, bite the bullet and do the timing belt, timing belt tensioner, accessory belt(s), and thermostat as well - those are normally done with the water pump and there's no sense in paying the labor twice.

My 2002 PT Cruiser died on the side of the road yesterday. The car has 95,000 miles and I beleive the serpentine belt broke. Had the car towed to the dealership and before the service adviser had someone...

The reason the service writers always recommend that the water pump be changed along with the timing belt and cam and crank seals, is that they are all located together, and it takes a long time (which you pay for) to take everything off to get to the area, so you may as well replace the other things which will go out soon with that high of a mileage anyway. Altogether, it runs between $500-$700, but it should last you another 100,000 miles. Your serpentine belt should cost about $130 parts and labor. If you are in doubt or the dealership has a bad reputation, have it towed somewhere else. Any time you have doubts, cal the BBB in your area and ask questions.
