Run fault codes and check for knock sensor problem. The noise may be detonation from incorrect air/ fuel/ timing that is not being corrected from --knock sensor---O2 sensors-MAP/MAF sensors.

SOURCE: Makes a low roaring noise when you are at crusing speed.

One of the front wheel bearings are bad. Jack it up and see if one is loose, the noise will usually change if you swerve back and forth while driving. Could also be a rear pinion bearing in the rear axle.

Look at the location of the ring gear on the old flywheel and the new flywheel. Soemtimes the gear to installed too far on to the flywheel.

Check that the starter is fully seated, I presume the same starter was used.....If not, compare new and old starter, side by side.

First loose your clutch cable if it is manual cable seems like your presure plate not full engage. . And your clutch plate test now ,start engine for 5 minutes to make worm, 2 hand brake on . 3 fit high gear 4rth if is posible rev your engine 2750 to 3250 rpm and hold there when you relise your clutch in 3 secons if your engine turn of your clutch is good if your engine stil going dont hold more the one second after your full relise of your clutch.

2007 Citroen Xsara Picasso (petrol). Weird chirping/warbling sound from disengaged clutch.

indicates that the clutch throw out bearing is failing
it is just touching the pressure plate fingers and that is allowing it to spin haphazardly creating the sounds.
by applying slight pressure the bearing is made to run under load and so the noise stops
when driving in gear it is the same as idling where you hear the noise
the short fix is , transmission out and a new bearing fitted
the long fix is to replace the clutch plate and pressure plate as well as that saves the labour of having to do the job again in the future

What causes that sound coming from the clutch side like that of a worn sprocket gear when you trail at low speed.

Hi,it could be that your thrust bearing is whereing out,its the bearing that when you put your foot on the clutch pedle it connects with the presure plate that lets the clutch plate have movement to spin, like aney bearing can where out, unless clutch is ferly new you should replace the free parts,
clutch-plate
pressure-plate
thrust-bearing(release-bearing)
but of coures only if it gets worse
hope this was some help.

try a squealing throwout bearing..needs replaced or greased up..you can actually melt grease and dunk the bearing in it or just replace the bearing.. or the bearing is chattering in the fork..

I have a 1985 s10 with the2.8 5 speed trans when i let the cluch pedal up it makes a constant rubbing noise and a high pitched squeel and its all qieut when i shove the pedal down any sugestions?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly,
Your clutch release bearing (throw out bearing) has failed. The transmission has to be unmounted from the engine to change this bearing. (Just like a clutch job!) Being this is a 1985 vehicle you should inspect the clutch plate and the pressure plate for wear. The fingers on the pressure plate should be quite worn if the throw out bearing is doing as you stated in your post. I.e rubbing sound and high pitched squeel. Inspection of the clutch plate consists of making sure the rivets are still not even with the friction pad surfaces. Don't forget to also inspect the engine flywheel for abnormal wear while your working in this area.

Things you might need.... U joints
Transmission rear seal
Clutch Plate
Pressure Plate

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Hi my rx8 is makin a grinding noise from the gearbox and the noise goes away wen foot is pressed on the clutch makes a noise wen drivin in 1st 2nd 3rd n 4th gear noise goes in 5th and the noise is there in...

What?! Really! The noise goes when the clutch pedal is depressed! So the noise goes when the release bearing (throw-out bearing) is engage? So how would that be a release bearing/clutch problem? If it didn't make a noise until the clutch pedal was depressed, it would be the release bearing! In other words its the input shaft bearing and/or counter shaft bearing in the gearbox. Stop giving people bad advice

There is a whirring noise and the gears don't seem to be kicking in. The car is an slk automatic

It seems that your clutch plates have worn out. The automatic gears system uses a centrifugal clutch which automatically engages as the engine rpm increases. If the the plates are worn out, it will make a whirring sound as you rev the engine & there will be a loss of power transmitted to the wheels resulting in slow pick up of speed. Get the clutch plate assembly replaced.........sodeep
