Question about 2006 Mazda 5
Same issue on the mpv, problem was the independent coil pack was bad, causing exact same situation your describing. Any p300 to p306 code will indicate ignition. Issue with mazda is they didnt provide any seal for coil over plug and water gets blown in by following cars moisutre, etc and now your having stalling issues, and continued running issues.

Possible loose air inlet boot off the air cleaner to the throttle body. Try taking it to a local Checker, Autozone or O'Rielys for a code pull which may give you a better idea of what is going on.

SOURCE: car stopped running on the
You can do couple things.
1. Take Dist. cap off, have some crank engine over. This will verify timing belt is not broke.
1. Remove fuel pressure by taking relay out under hood. turn engine over to remove pressue from fuel line also don't forget to remove fuel.cap.
1. Then remove fuel line put relay back and turn key YOU DON'T HAVE TO crank engine (it's electic fuel pump.)
Hope this helps

SOURCE: Car running rough and stalling
I had the same problem with my dodge neon. Its your transmission slipping. My car had to have all the transmission flushed and it helped alot, but the longer you let it go, the damage could be permanent.

i ve run into this problem a few times, with no cler results,i checked all wiring from computer to switch and all check out fine i also replaced switch and a month later same code, this one ended up with a bad pcm, another one had a bad wiring for overdrive switch, this was not an easy repair to diagnose.i think you should have amazda dealer look at it.

SOURCE: I have a 2006 Mazda
first off, a tank of gas won't turn off the check engine light. But, I wold have someone check the problem using a OBD-II diagnostic tool. It will give you the error code that is causing the light to turn on, and that code will be directly linked to a specific problem. The OBD database which you can find online, will tell you the most likely causes and possible solutions. you can do this all by yourself by renting the OBD-II device at autozone, or by a mechanic or dealer. If the car is still under warranty, bring it to the dealer to check it out, and don't take "oh it's nothing, don't worry" for an answer. Dealers routinely do this until the warranty is up and charge you and arm and a leg for certified service. Make sure they do it right the first time.
Hope that helps, please rate me!
