first disconnect battery,remove wiring loom from altenator the slacken V belt tensioner bolt so altenator swings free then undo the two bottom bolt or one long one depending on model.easy ,now the difference between sunday mechanic and a mechanic undo the two screws that hold the regulator/brush set housing and renew the brushes providing the commutator is servicable.

If your charging rate is too low, then check the connections and wires to your alternator. Replace alternator if necessary.
