Most on one this old had a 2-3 wire connector that you take off and a special socket to remove the pressure switch.. you can get a free loaner from autozone with a small deposit..call the parts store..

You most likely hit a curb, the pan is cast aluminum and will break like glass if you hit a curb, the pan can be changed without removing the engine, it is very time consuming, but it can be done.

SOURCE: 2007 Escape oil pressure issue/oil pump

one thing to keep in mind that even though the vehicle is new you can still have major engine issues, because of the bearing material may have been bad at production.taking this in account any part on a vehicle can fail prematurely either because of poor insatllation or improper manufacturing. As far as oil filters are concerned bthe odds of mechanic installing the wrong filter are slim to none.the oil pressure sending unit only senses that here is oil flowing through it. it doesn't set the light off unless there is absolutely no pressure at all the only way to see the pressure is to have a gauge. oil prssure should be abot 45 psi at 2000 rpms. the only way a filter would effect oil pressure is if it was completely clogged. It would take a great deal of coolant in the oil to ruin a set of bearings and before that happens your vehicle would not run very well and you would notice a great amount of white smoke out the exaust. this would indicated either a blown head gasket.cracked head or a cracked block. you never mentioned what they found in the anaylasis of the oil. I presume that your vehicle is still under warrenty on the powertrain. I would suggest that you have the dealership check your oil pump out. every vehicle will have a small amount of metalic residue in the oil. large shavings and chunks of metal would be a worry. please rate this thanks.

SOURCE: where is the oil pressure switch on a 2001 f150

Left ( driver's side ) front of the engine on the 5.4L engine.

This is shown to be at the end of the baffled area of the intake, the edge of the pleated area farthest from the airfilter ( looking at the engine, the left side of the pleated folds ).
When you locate this, look down the front of the engine.

The connector is a black 1 pin connector with a White w/ Red Stripe wire to it.

You might have to remove the factory air intake plastic housing to see it.

SOURCE: Where is the high pressure oil line

Most oil leaks on this engine occur in the valley of the engine at the back of the oil pump. If you look directly down into the center of the engine infront of the turbo you will see the back of the pump and the potential leaks at the plugs on the pump and the output lines to the heads.

My 1985 nissan maxima keeps low oil pressure,I constantly have to fill it with up to qts. of oil,any solutions

Place a clean flattened cardboard under your car and see if it's leaking out. If it's not dripping oil, check your radiator for the presence of oil using a dye test kit available at NAPA. If there is a leak coming from under your car, try to determine from where it's dripping. Most common is an oil filter that hasn't been tightened properly or leaking oil sump bolt. A 1/4 turn on the oil filter should stop the leak, if its the sump... a new screw washer for the sump bolt will usually cure that. Check around the sump mounting bolts, if a fresh leak is evident, you will need a new sump gasket, don't try to tighten the existing bolts as it make leak worse! Tighten to torque specs. Otherwise, you are burning it up... exhaust smoke should be dark instead of light gray. White smoke indicates a blown head gasket and the oil is getting into the engine.

Would a loose valve cover bolt cause an oil pump to lose pressure

Not unless you were leaking huge amounts of oil. Low oil pressure is from worn clearances on the engine bearings or a weak or restricted oil pump.

My 04 nissan xterra oil pressure comes on when turning sharp or braking hard. Light only stays on for 1-2 seconds. The oil was black when I bought it recently. Changed and still dark/dirty. Is this...

the engine may be slugged up from lack of maintenance/oil changes, since the oil was black when you purchased the truck. was the light coming on before you changed the oil?? if not, try changing the oil filter for nissan one. if that doesnt do it than you can dump some internal engine cleaner into it if you want, but it may develop external oil leaks. the oil builds up a film after a while inside of you engine. if you wash it off, the engine may start leaking oil. to really diagnose this, you should take oil pressure reading at the oil pressure sending unit. you will ofcourse need some specialty tools to do this job such as pressure gauge and oil pressure sending unit socket to remove it so you can screw the gauge into it.good luck.

Loses oil pressure after warming up and coming to idle lite go out after rpms pick back up

Have you checked the engine dipstick to ensure that the oil level is correct? A very low oil level will cause the light to come on. Top up oil if necessary. If oil level is OK, then it is possible that the warning light pressure switch which is screwed into the engine oil pressure system is faulty and setting off light and needs replacing. There could even be oil leaking out of the switch. The switch is usually located near the oil filter and will have a wire connected to it.
If the oil constantly needs topping up you either have a bad leak or the piston rings are worn and not operating correctly. If the leak is bad, then there will be oil puddles under the engine after it has been stopped for a while. If it is a ring problem, then there will be grey oil smoke out of the exhaust while driving.
Worst case is that it could also mean badly worn engine bearings. It is unlikely to be the oil pump as these hardly ever fail.
Worst case is that it could also mean badly worn engine bearings. It is unlikely to be the oil pump as these hardly ever fail.
If the engine has not been serviced regularly with oil and filter changes, the oil can become very black, dirty and sludgy and cause restrictions in the lubrication system such as sludge blocking the gauze on the inlet to the oil pump and build up in the oil galleries. Poor oil flow from the pump will cause low oil pressure and continuing to run vehicle in this state will drastically shorten engine life.
If this is the case, then run some flushing oil product (ie. Wynns or Nulon or other reputable brand) in the engine, following the instructions on the container, and then drain and refill oil and change oil filter. You may have to repeat this process in a couple of months if the oil is particularly dirty.

Oil cooler lines leaking. Motor losing all the oil within 10 minutes.

Inspect where the oil is leaking from the oil cooler line, it's common for the oil to leak from the remote oil cooler line adapter bolt on the engine block. You can remove the two bolts one at a time and place a oil drain plug washer with some RTV silicon to ensure that it will not leak.

The other common place for the oil line to leak is from where the rubber lines mate to the aluminum line from the remote oil filter line adapter. This is also a simple fix but you're going to need a drumlin tool cut off the old compression clamp that was press fit. Cut off the old compression fitting ring, use cation that you only cut off the ring and replace it with a new compression clamp. Make sure you use compression clamps and not a hose clamp.

This is the best way to fix the oil leak from the adapter line to the rubber hose line, to replace the whole line with the new adapter is expensive and i believe your have to disconnect the engine mount to raise the engine to clear enough room to install the new line along the frame.

Good luck and don't use any engine oil stop leak, it will damage your oil pressure relieve valve and that's one extra thing you don't need to replace.
