More than likely, if all of your cables are good and battery connections are clean, you have a weak or almost dead battery. The clicking or clattering noise is the solenoid on the starter attempting to engage, but not getting enough energy from the battery to do its job. Why is the battery weak or almost dead? Batteries just wear out eventually if they are old. But sometimes a battery is weak because the alternator is not working properly, or because there are bad connections, most likely at the battery terminals. Remove the terminals ( negative first, then positive) and clean them both. After cleaning them reconnect them, positive first, then negative. Sometimes there is a loose belt that is not driving the alternator adequately ( although this is not common with serpentine belts). Make sure the belts are tight. If you replace the battery, the problem will only be solved temporarily if you do indeed have an alternator problem, and the new battery will also go dead. To check the output of the alternator, there should be 12-13 volts across the battery terminals when the car is turned off. When the car is running, there should be 13 to 14.5 volts across those terminals. If there is no change in the voltage when the car is running, and the cables are good, then the alternator is not working. Sometimes there is a fuse that delivers primary voltage to the alternator and when this fuse is bad, the alternator will not work. Check all fuses, under the dash and under the hood if car is so equipped. If battery is good, cables are good, and connections are good, you may have a bad starter.

Ctsy fuse when put in makes a clicking under dash as if a short? truck 1998 chevy silverado no lights truck wont start?

What lights ? And won't start how ? The clicking is more then likely a relay or a module of some sort . When you turn the key to the start position does the start engage an spin the motor ? Or nothing happens , a crank no start or no crank no start !

How do I fix my car? It is not cranking correctly. It turns over, its just slow to do so, and sometimes requires another turn of the key. I know its only going to get worse.

Before you spend a penny on it try jumping from a good vehicle. Does it turn as expected? Yes? Then check your battery.
No, then check the leads and ground cable to the battery and chassis.
At that mileage I'd expect the starter to be on the way out. Its drawing heavily on the battery because its worn inside. Hence the poor cranking speed. Don't worry about plugs belts etc until you have sorted the starting part. Get a good home mech to help.

Car wont start after leaving key in ignition,ie went to start car, but phone rang, key in ignition, now wont start.this has happened my wife on several occasions. starts fine on a push

Check the fuse box for the starter relay, and pull out to check pins for corrosion / bad contact. The fact it start on a bump with the key on leads me to suspect the start / crank position of the electrics. Get a knowledgeable person to run through the crank circuit with a meter, also check the condition of earth straps and starter cables. Could be the ignition switch is faulty?

Won't start, check engine light come on, will start

wont crank or wont start, no car starts (cept my M/t) unless cranked with the starter motor.
the starter motor starts the engine.
so which is it, not cranking?
also there is a Immobilizer (SKIM) lamp that must not be on , cranking or its will not start. by design.

this is correct. the CEL lamp glowing tells you 2 things
EFI is now active and the (ECU/PCM) just passed the basic test.

if its slow? to come on , the fuses for it are loose/bad or the battery is weak.
or discharged, or the key switch is failing.

find any ASE shop in town and get it checked out.
ASE are pro grade shops. that are honest and very skilled.

MY 325I would not start - when the key was turned, it would just make a clicking noize. I tried t jump start but that din't help. I did crank and continue to crank for a few day but slow. today it...

This definetly sounds like a battery issue......the clicking is the starter motor receiving current but not enought to turn, and when it did crank, there was not enough voltage to provide power for the injection sytem........I would first be either charging or replacing the battery.......and seeing if it starts.......Then if it starts, I would be checking the charging system and all power devices, to make sure the new/recharged battery does not go flat........Good luck
