If you can't remove the filter by hand just use a common oil filter wrench. The filter is easy to access and remove. When you buy your new filter you can find the correct size filter cap wrench which is most likely a 64 mm.

What size socket to remove oil filter cannister from a 2009 Toyota Highlander?

K-D Tools 3253 End Cap Oil Filter Wrench This is a comment for this filter wrench I found on amazon.com here is the link-----The following is not my comment, but hopefully it'll help you.

http://www.amazon.com/K-D-Tools-3253-Filter-Wrench/dp/B0002SR4AY/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

I bought this tool to remove the filter housing on my 2009 Toyota Highlander 4-cyl. The filter housing seems to be made out of some composite material and I did not want to grab it with the pliers-type oil filter wrench. K-D Tools 3253 end cap wrench fit the housing perfectly and made the removal and the installation of the filter housing easy.

I CAN NOT FIND THE MERCEDES BENZ OIL FILTER LOCATION ON THE ENGINE

open your bonnet or hood look to the right hand side of the head at the front and you should see a metal cannister with and nut head ontop of it undo the nut and lift off the cannister and there will be a papper filter inside depending on what motor you have you may have to remove the thermostat housing just above the filter housing

Sir,could you tell me where the oil filter is located on a 1998 (S plate) manual saloon 5 series bmw

Ahhhhhh easy one. The oil filter cannister is located not below the engine but in that aluminum looking cannister on the left as you look at the motor from the top.

There's a cap with a nut looking thing holding it all together. undo the nut take off the cap and voila....there's the oil filter. Be sure you pay attention on how it goes together. there are two O-rings and a copper gasket to put back correctly.

Who wants oil spewing out of the oil filter cannister assembly when you're driving down the road and the oil is under 35 psi? Not you, because it will ruin your engine pronto.

Can't locate the oil filter

The ION doesn't use a conventional screw-on "cannister" filter - instead it uses a paper filter which is more expensive (surprise), and which is housed near the engine block UNDER that plastic hood which covers your engine. In addition, you need a 1 1/4 inch wrench to remove the oil filter cover... sucks, doesn't it?

X type diesel oil filter

Hi, the oil filter is a paper element item in a plastic housing, under the car on the front RHS of the engine. You need a end cap filter wrench to undo it. I've tried a set i borrowed and couldn't find one to fit. I had to make a tool in the end by taking a bolt with a head to match the hex shaped piece at the bottom of the housing and wleded bits of flat steel to it. You could use a correctly sized socket (24-26mm?) but be careful not to break it!! Also make sure you locate the O-ring for the filter correctly.

Dave

Where is my Oil Filter on my 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Hi, I'm not at all familiar with your vehicle, however I had a similar stressful experience with a Smart car. I looked everywhere for a cannister filter when it is in fact a paper insert. Try looking for possibly a largish black plastic domed top with a huge 24mmish sized bolt head on its top.
Ask your local parts supplier what type of filter is listed for your model?
Hope this helped? if yes please press the blue button for my FREE effort!
