Confirm that your shifter is in park or neutral, might be something simple but sounds like the tumbler lock on the key cylender or the soleniod have gone. Confirm that all your fuses are not blown.

SOURCE: 2006 chevy cobalt woulnt start lock light is on

Are you using the original key that came with the car? The chip in that key may have gone bad. Try using the spare key that should have come with the purchase of the car. You may also be having battery issues. If all else fails....call the people who really know how to rape you...DUM Dum dummmmm....the dealer

SOURCE: Chevy Cobalt Jump Start -

You do need to connect the ground lead to the battery. Connect the positive lead to the battery post, then connect the ground lead to metal bracket or chassis nut on the colt bolt. Then connect the positive to the other car and negative to the other car. Keep in mind, always connect the positive first and disconnect the positive last.

SOURCE: my 2006 cobalt wont start

There can be a couple things, nutral saftey switch, AC DELCO, NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH Direct Replacement Part For OE Number 24219476 `$68.67 , ignition switch not adjusted correctly, try jumping the starter at the starter to see if the starter is working, of course I have just fixed a car that the guy didn't have the shifter in park, try these things and get back to me

My 2006 Chevy cobalt wont start it says check sys carriage what is the problem

There is a dozen or more things that can cause that, will it turn over but not start or will it not even turn over? Ya got to start with your basics, do you have a good 12 volts, are you getting fuel, and enough, is there spark at the plugs? When was its last tune up, if you cant remember or don't know, that would be a good start. Keep me posted

08 Chevy Cobalt wont start. Battery is good.?

Generally speaking, if the starter was dead it would not jump start.
Sounds like the key switch or the neutral safety switch.
You would need to know if the starter has power when the key is in the start position.

2006 chevy cobalt LT. the key is stuck

Have you tried shifting the gears completely through and then putting the car in park. It sounds like the car isn't able to be put completely in park to release the key. Try putting the car in N and removing the key. Even thought the car may not completely be in park to release the key, The gear most likely is in park but not enough to make the switch/sensor to release.

Car will not start-battery is fine

Try this Put your key in turn it on dont start wait 10 mins remove key wait 10 seconds repeat this a total of 3 times. Your theft light should go out. As long as the light is on your fuel system is disabled. If that dont work try a different key do the same thing. If that dont work a dealer needs to probably replace and reprogram your ignition switch and keys
