How to disable "Service Engine Light" on 2004 BMW 325i

You can't. You have to read the engine fault code with an OBD2 reader, fix the fault and then reset it. They are not really "you should get this car serviced" indicators, they are an indication of a serious fault as detected by the engine management system.

97 grandprix code p0705 no check engine lamp on, but 1-2 gear shift is exteneded, then shifts also my scan tool shows 1-2 sel opn or shorted to ground..after driving for min but no code for sel yet

I just answered a P705 question that may be connected to this.
But I will add that usually transmission codes will not turn on a check engine light. The reason is the check engine light is to warn the driver that something has happened that could damage the cat converter or cause major problems with emissions.

How do you reset the computer on a Pontiac Grandprix?

you do not normally "reset the computer" YOu did not tell us what year the car is,, If its a 1996 or newer you use a scan tool to read and reset codes. prior to 1996 you disconnect the battery for a couple of minuets and then reconnect.

Engine service light stays on

the only way to turn this off is to connect the car to a ODB II computer and read the codes the computer has set or activited. In the US most auto parts stores will read the codes of your car and turn off your service engine soon light for free but to make the light go off for good you need to read the codes and fix the problems those codes point you to.

Good luck

I HAVE A 1991 OLDS bravada with a 4.3 v6. Service engine light comes on and reads code 42 {electronic spark timing or cicuit failure) I have changed dist cap wires, plugs and rotor button, but still is...

Hey, your right about code 42 being the Electronic Spark Timing. The Electric Spark Timing Bypass curcuit or EST circuit is either grounded or open. A malfunctioning HEI module can cause this code so I suggest maybe trying to replace the HEI module. Good luck!
