Check oil first, Low oil sensor will shut down if more than a quart low. Change fuel filter, could be fuel starvation, change the air filter. stopped up air filter will put MAF sensor out of range. PERFORM OBDII SCAN SOON.

91 Geo Storm Gsi running just fine, one day I lost power driving 65, check engine light came on and was flickering, mph arm going up and down but didn't die then. Then it was ok.That happened 2 times...

Most engines don't fair well under extreme heat. It's apparent you might have some electrical issue's. Your rpm's or mph arm going up and down could be faulty speed sensor would cause arm problem. I think you may have more than one problem, the car shutting off is due to engine over-heating. Check cooling system-thermostat, water pump, radiator, engine fans and coolant temp sensor and fan relay's. It could be as simple as blown radiator hose.

Car runs fine then power loss till switch of engine then ok again

You MUST have the electronic engine control module scanned for fault codes to even begin to diagnose the cause of this.

Where do you live that it is legal to drive 120 mph? Your hitting the built in speed limiter. The car is telling you to slow down.

1988 olds 98 sets engine codes 41,48, and 63. stalls intermittently, but starts up again and runs fine. Before it stalls, the speedomoter blips down to half the speed and goes back up to the correct speed.

41- cam sensor reading, 48- EGR , 63- cruise control, 20 mph or more over set speed ( sounds like the speedo prob ).My thinking is the cam sensor code and egr code contribute to your stalling problem . Clear computer codes by pushing OFF and HI on A/C panel ( if its an AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL )ater reading codes. Then drive till problem occurs again and the light comes on. Now, read the CURRENT CODES, and that might eliminate one the codes / causes. Hope this helps

Starter kick back

If this is a gas engine, check the ignition coil or plug wires. A simple test...

Start the truck at night, then look under the hood while it's running. Don't use a flashlight or your headlights; it should be dark !

If you see sparks anywhere around the engine, you've found the problem. Now you can turn on a light to see where they're coming from - probably from a cracked ignition coil.

Good luck !
