SOURCE: the c280 just switched of whilst driving just cranks but does not

There is a problem with these models with the float in the gas tank. Check that you have over half the tank full of gas. If its under half and won't start then the float could be your problem. You can solve it by just keeping more than half the tank full of gas or by replacing the float which is expensive. Let me know if this helps.

SOURCE: Ignition failing to start -S280 MERCEDES BENZ 1999 MODEL

Crank shaft position sensor is bad. This is the most common failure. Its location is on the rear drivers side of engine, where the transmission bell housing mates to the engine, only one small bolt and a two prong electrical connector hold it on. Usually will not throw a trouble code. If you remove it you can test it with an ohm meter, will have an erratic reading or read open loop, can malfunction intermittently or permanently after parking vehicle and won't restart. Applying some heat source to it during ohm testing with a hot air heat gun will usually cause the sensor to read open loop if your not sure if its bad or not. This reply is probably way to late, but I just happened to come accross it while online. Harry (master certified MBZ diagnostic tech)

Partition open on my clk 350 mercedes, top won't go down

your crank and no start issue is likely caused by a failing crankshaft position sensor. they usually fail when at high temps like driving and when engine cools off they are OK again, it will fail while driving as it gets worse.

Hi Gennea, If the battery runs flat and the radio looses its anti theft code it must be input again before the set can work. The code may be written into the user manual, if not you may have to visit an agent. Regards John

Y dont i have spark but got power it will turn over but wont start from ignition module 2 coil 2 da timing belt do u think it could b my crak position sensor

yes it could be the crank position sensor. if the crank position sensor is bad and not allowing the car to start there should be a code for it showing current fault for crank position sensor. Also depending and year and model there is an additional fuse and/or fuse relay that can also cause a no spark condition. Let me know the year and model of your mercedes and I can give you more specifics on where to look.

Cranking strong - but no start

Check the distributor cap and rotor for loose wires or unusual wear. Check connection of plug wires from cap to plugs. Could be a hundred things causing this, but these are the most obvious. Did the engine get wet recently? If so, drying the distributor should do the trick, but other connections of critical wiring could be the cause.

1990 Mercedes Benz 420 SEL computer problem? wont

This could be caused by a faulty Crank position sensor. The computers are expensive for this and not something that commonly fails on these. Have the fuel pumpchecked for operation and pressure. Check for spark at the plugs. Then we can procede further if you would like.
