Question about 2008 Audi TT
Hi. I've had the dealer replace the sensor for the convertible top a few times now. Tired of spending so much each time it happens.
Problem: the convertible top "icon" keeps flashing even when the top is up and closed, and the windows don't function properly (don't go up all the way, car has to be turned off/on to get them to go up, etc.)
Do you know what part (sensor?) causes this, and how I can repair/replace it myself?
Thank you for any and all help! I got a worser prolem. My 2008 TT (54 week old TT!?!!!) has the power top in the down position, and the remedy in the manual is complete and utter BUNK! Iwas lucky enough to be 2 miles from my GARAGE in New York, but had this happened at my primary residence, in the mountains of Pennsylvania, I have no garage right now, nor any audi dealerships near by to insure protection against the SPRING elements. I paid 65K for this "truth in enginering" product, which now has truthfully proved incapable of performing its major function. And you really can't fix it yourself in an emergency. I grew up on a dairy farm. I got above average mechanicle aptitude. This is a MAJOR DISSAPOINTMENT, AUDI.
I'm sorry, the message I got was to clarify my problem, and the problem was this: The power top on my 2008 TT Roadster would neither go up nor down via electronic control, and the emergency remedy, a.k.a. release the pressure on the pistons via wild goose chase through a hole in the driver's side deep in the trunk. REMEDY:
I took the car to the dealership and they replaced the "convertible top flap motors". The top works, but they laughed when I asked for an emergency pair, even though the service manager told me that the emergency piston release remedy recommended in the manual was pretty much useless. I must say that aside from my bitter words about the problem, and my consternation, there are few things that are as relaxing as a cruise around the Croton Reservoir system with the top down.
