Question about 1995 Volvo 960
I have a 1995 Volvo 960 and suddenly the fuel gauge reads empty with the warning light on, even when the tank is full. I''ve taken it to 2 non-volvo mechanics and they can't seem to figure out whether it's the sender or the receiver and claim to need a $200 part from Volvo for the diagnostics. Is there a simpler way of solving this other than to take it to a Volvo dealer, which there are none of in St George Utah
It is more than likely the sender if you pull out pump you can manually move sender or you can test gauge by grounding sender the gauge should go to full if none of this happens you need a gauge

If the gauge was working before that is not gauge im volvo tech most problems is in fuel tank to find out you have to in the trunk remove the covers and take out fuel pump sending unit and replace it with new the job is not for home to do needs some special tools and right installation
