Just follow the big hose on top af the radiator down to where it goes into the motor,The piece it connects to is the thermostat housing,Just remove the bolts and pull it off,You will see the thermostat,Replace with new one in the same direction as the old one is setting, and bolt back together.

General advice:After warming up track the problem:sparkplugs (even new can have the ceramic parts broken/cracked /wiring (after warming up the isolation get's soft, can loose spark power)/ignition coil(s) (gets hot, stop runnig),running reach, fuel pump/fuel pump relay.Best guess:fuel pump mallfunction (low pressure) related, fuel filter cloged/water in the fuel/fuel line cloged/chipped. Cheers, hope u figure it out,let the people know.

My 97, 5.2 runs 200 without AC, if I turn on AC, it goes to 220. Replaced clutch fan, thermostat, water pump, and new cap. Backflushed block and radiator. No results. Why so hot? Only 92K on unit.

dodges run like that. if your worried put a 180 degree thermostat in. maybe even a 160 . wont hurt engine or fuel mileage . my 99 dodge ram 1500 sport runs fine with 160 degree one. hope it helped , good luck

the water pump and thermostat should have solved it. an air pocket can cause that but usually not to that degree.

don't get one of those cheap *** plastic impeller water pump for sissies. Get the metal impeller one. get a cool running thermostat and drill two 3/16" holes in it 180 degreess from each other. you may have installed the t-stat backwards.

Gosh...in this day and age that is not that hot.which is hard to believe. are you experiencing temp gauges in the red or overheating? Im seeing some vehicles blazing at 250- 260 F and still rambling on ...I like the old 180 degree days from the past personally but due to USA emmission laws, some of these engines need to run this hot to pass rigid emmission standards

What temp rating is the thermostat you bought ? there are 3 I believe for your truck, check this and if it is rated below 200 degrees then I would re-flush and add new anti-freeze 50/50.
