Question about Mazda 626
My MAZDA started running rough & had no pick-up-and -go.They spent 6 hours diagnostic's on the car.And when I say (THEY) I mean the mechanic's at the garage I work at.They started leaning towards the distributor,so I bought one and installed it,no change.Wanted to set the(BASE)timing just to make sure.So I inserted a jumper wire between the GND & TEN terminals in the data link connector as they suggest in HAYNES repair manual.I hooked up my timing light properly ,and when I adjusted the distributor, there was no change in the timing(THE MARK NEVER MOVED)....DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS ON WHAT I MIGHT BE DOING WRONG,WHERE I SHOULD START NEXT OR WHAT MIGHT BE THE REASON THE TIMING WONT ADJUST...PLEASE HELP...AND THANKS FOR CARING...PEACE...
Honestly you might want to check with dealer service on this one as its kinda got me stumped also un less any of the emissions vacuum stuff is messed up..

Vacuum leaks. Check all hoses and intake bolts. Leaking EGR or plugged PCV valve. Air filter plugged. Leaking head gasket. Worn timing chain. Camshaft lobes worn. Valves burned or leaking. Fuel idle control system or sensor. Good luck!
