Yes, alot of cars have this feature. It is a anti-theft feature so if it is removed you need a code to unlock the radio (or if the battery is unpluged). If it's an after market deck than it should be in the manual if no manual than try googling it. If it is the factory deck than more than likly you will have to go back to the dealer to get the code. Good luck.

Battery went dead and had to replace it and now radio ask for a code

When the power is removed it will reset the codes set on the radio as this is a safety feature for anti theft. So contact the dealer for the codes or check if this written down in your manual

Battery went dead in my 2008 civic, took the battery out and charged it. I now have error codes on my radio.

it sounds like you have an anti-theft radio and when the battery power is interrupted the radio goes into a lock out mode so anyone that steals it can`t use it,hopefully you have the code that needs to be punched into the radio written in the owners manual,if not then you will have to go to the dealer and tell them what happened and they can get the code and program your radio.write down the code and procedure so if it happens again you can reprogram it yourself.

I have a 2005 Nissan Altima, the battery went dead and now the radio will not come on. Neither the radio nor the clock work. How do I fix this problem?

If you replaced the battery then check the fuse for the radio. If it's good then the radio may require a code to be input for it to work again as an anti theft feature. Give you local dealer a call and see if they can talk you thru it over the phone.

notify dealer code is part of anti theft system -the battery pobably went dead before u bought car that is what usually does it- if u have manual in it tells u how to retrieve the radio id code which will be needed or call dealer first they can advise, go in with codes and id and vehicle proof of ownership and they will give u code for ur radio

Jumped started Audi 2001 TT, due to dead battery, now radio dead

You will need to enter the anti theft radio lock code. I would check the manual for the operation. On my VW it was on a sticker in the truck. Also check with an Audi dealer for exact location.

The battery died on my 2001 eclipse, now the radio only says ''off''?

This is the anti-theft device on your factory radio. When the battery died, the radio thought it had been removed from your car and went into anti-theft mode. When you turned the car back on, the radio should have read "CODE" on the display, at which point you need to enter the factory anti-theft code. After 3 failed attempts at entering the code, it will simply read "OFF" and the radio is locked.

At this point:
- find your factory anti-theft code - it should be in your owner's manual, or you can contact a dealer to retrieve it
- turn the key to the ACC position (radio and accessories on, but engine is off)
- turn on the radio so the display reads "OFF"
- let the car sit for 1 hour
- radio will turn off automatically and reset
- turn the radio on again, and it should read "CODE"
- enter the factory anti-theft code

Make sure you have the code before starting the procedure. To enter the code, use the radio preset buttons. For example, if your code is "4321", hit Preset #1 button four times, Preset #2 three times, Preset #3 two times, and Preset #4 one time. Then hit the "Tape" or "CD" button. Radio should now be unlocked.

I need to reset my radio anti-theft code. Currently, when I press the radio buttons, (eg. number 1, it says, " code 1, press number 2, it says code 2.. and so on to number 6 button. I have the code...

This will fix it. I just did mine. You do NOT need to pull out your stero to get the Serial Number.

If you lost the code, you may retrieve it from https://radio-navicode.honda.com/
