My inspection garage told me my 3rd rear lights were not working (back up lights). When we pulled the one bulb, it appeared to be perfect and the filament was unbroken. Are the two lights in series,...

if one brake light is off, the other one should be on and you got to check the bulb even if it looks good. if the both brake light bulbs are good and not working then you can go and check the fuse box and check for brake light fuse. if its OK then check the brake switch that usually located on the transmission. Good luck

Brake lights don't work

This sounds like a bad brake light switch, this switch is located on the bracket that holds brake pedal, you can test for power at switch, also if you remove connector and jump terminals with a wire and see if lights lite, if lights light then switch is bad,

1998 ford escort wagon brake lights out. bulbs and fuses changed.

Sounds like your brake light switch has gone bad. It is located on your brake pedal and is easy to change and relatively inexpensive. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!

I have a 2001 Ford F150, my brake lights dont work. Ive replaced the bulbs, checked the fuses, and the brake switch on side of the brake pedal was replaced. I still dont have any brake lights. My third brake light works fine, along with my running lights, flashers, blinkers.

Brake lights went out, changed bulbs, checked fuse, still wont work

You have to check the brake light switch which should be around the brake pedal on the upperside.
Ones located rremove the wires tht go to the switch and jump them by using a piece of wire, thn check if the brake lights come 'on'. If they do , thn its the switch tht may need replacing or even sometimes adjusting inorder to operate.
Hope this helps.
