Question about 2005 Honda Civic

1 Answer

Steering on my 2005 Civic Hybrid is overly sensitive - it's hard to keep it going straight, particularly at 50mph+. No sign of leakage in the rack assembly and the ball joints, etc. seem to be fine. Almost no left to right play in the steering. Any ideas?

Alignment seems to be good but I can have it checked.

The solution ended up being to put air in the rear tires. My wife thinks they're OK if they look round which only takes about 15-20 psi. I should have looked at it in daylight before posting here. Thanks for the good suggestion in any case.

Check that the alignment is not off sometimes by hitting the curb your toe end on your alignment cant be pushed in and your tires fighting each other wich makes your steering very sensitive

88 honda civic hard to keep straight and steering wheel is tilted slightly to the left when driving straight. what causes this?

Alignment is out for sure, but it sounds like you may have bad tie rod ends. (steering rack, bushings, ball joints etc)
Brake check will look over it all for you and tell you what the problem is, then you can relay that back and I can walk you through the repair.

My 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid alarm system is no longer responding to the remote control after changing the battery in the remote control. Any ideas on what might be the problem.

Try locking and unlocking the doors with the key to see if it will reset the security system.
It is possible a relay could cause this...there are many relays and computers in this hybrid system

Power steering works hard at low speeds parking etc put then seems ok when you get going maybe rack and pinion

The VOLVO 740 does not have speed sensitive power steering, so is a little harder to turn when going slow.but is very light when doing over 100mph.

hard to steer is not the pump in most cases, it is the power steering rack and pinion steering gear.

Just a simple question: I'm looking at a 2005 Civic Hybrid versus a 2006 regular Civic. I'm leaning toward the hybrid for gas milage, but one mechanic was Very Wary of a Used Hybrid ..."all the hybrid...

it sounds more like that old adage....how long is the piece of string.... i don't think you can ever predict if something will last longer than others, you might buy the hybrid and drive off the forecourt only to have it brake down 2 miles up the road, and vice versa with the normal civic,or they could be looking at 10000000 miles.. they are to be honest just as good as each other, obviously the hybrid is better for the environment and cheaper running cost, but just as all honda's they are both very reliable, i truly think you should toss that coin of fate and see what side it lands, either way your a winner..hope this helps...sorta lol

Front whine when turning left and at whine when starting driving. Power steering and transmission fluid good level.Steering is good. Transmission shifts good. Some fluid on carport located left front of...

Whine usually occurs on tight turns maximising pump output and/or pump may be worn and needs replacement. Leakage can be from pump reservor, connection, or power rack and pinion steering assy. Spray off any area with a sign of fluid with a brake clean or carb. cleaner and look for signs of leakage.

Steering problem

Your power steering engine/ pully has gone bad. needs a replacement then.

Take care and do fix it on time before you get the steering rack damaged.

Good luck.

2005 chrysler 300 steering problem

U have a failed steering rack internal seal, the leakage causes the hard spot, most likely the seal surface is scored allowing fluid to leak by at a certain position of the wheel. Try getting a bottle of LUCAS oil brand power steering sealer and conditioner, it really works. also check and see if the PS fluid is disclored, if it is get a cheap turkey baster and **** out as much fluid as possiable and add clean fluid.
