Question about 1986 Jaguar XJ6

1 Answer

How's YOUR oil pressure behave? ('95 XJ6)

Recently, my oil pressure (intermittently) falls way, WAY, low. Sometimes even to "0" . My old '80 XJ6 4.2 has always had the same "feature" as well. Just taking a bit of a poll and wondering if anyone else is plagued by this anomaly. (The dealer says, "it's nothing to worry about") But, I still don't like it. Anyone else? 96 Chevy blazer how do I get out of safe mode ran low on oil now runs an drives but won't let car go fast past 2000rpms

The computing system on your vehicle has no safe mode for running low on oil . The only thing that will happen is the check gauges light will come on.
The oil pressure gauge is an analog device that is located in the IPC. The oil pressure gauge is operated directly by the oil pressure sensor circuit. As the engine oil pressure changes, the resistance of the sensor and the current flow in the oil pressure gauge changes. The current flow in the oil pressure gauge causes the needle to move in order to appropriately display the engine oil pressure. A sensor resistance of 1ohms will display as 0 kPa (0 PSI) and a resistance of 88 ohms will display as 80 kPa (80 PSI ). The IPC also monitors the oil pressure sensor circuit and interprets the current flow in this circuit in order to determine when the engine oil pressure is too low. If the oil pressure is too low, the check gauges tell tale will turn on. The oil pressure sender is located on the left side of the 2.2L. The 4.3L engine, oil pressure sender is located at the top left side, near the distributor/high voltage switch.
Try disconnecting the battery cables an hold them together for ten minutes , reset ECM !

Is there a oil safety switch on 2002 Chevy s10 zr2

You have a oil pressure switch which is located by the oil filter,it is screwed into block, just removed electrical connector, get wrench and remove.
  • When the oil pressure is either high or low it will either turn the oil light "on" in the dash or move the gauge to the extremes
  • Undetected high or low oil pressure can result in internal engine damage and/or gasket leakage. Here's a picture of what it look's like.

How to fix my oil pump, 2002 ford escord sport, my oil gauge won't gom up . i believe it's the oil pump that it's bad

You don't fix a bad oil pump you replace it. It's inside the oil pan on the bottom of the engine. Make sure you have the slot alligned with the matching pin before you bolt it in place.

Oil light intermittent, fades, sometimes steady

Check the connection where the wire plugs onto the sender unit. If it's loose, or the wire shorts out to the body, it might flicker. If this isn't the problem, unscrew the sender unit and check your oil pressure using an oil pressure gauge screwed into the same hole. The pressure should be above 40 psi if my mind serves me correct. If it's too low you'll have to replace or check the oil pump. Did you replace the oil filter and oil recently? If the filter is blocked or the oil is old it might also cause the pressure to drop too low.
