Question about 2001 Volkswagen Golf

1 Answer

CAR DOES NOT WANT TO START SOMETIMES

This problem is driving me crazy. Sometimes, when I turn the ignition to start my 2001 Volkswagon Golf (which I just purchased), it wont start. The engine doesnt crank or anything. But when I disconnect the battery and connect it back, it starts. It will be ok for a couple of days then it wont start again. Do you think it has to do with the car's theft deterrent system?
I also noticed that the battery cable fastner is missing a bolt and screw that tightens the battery cable to the battery post. Could the problem be that the battery cable(s) are loose?

Its very likely that the battery cable is loose replace the bolt and see if your problem goes away
even if its not the problem you need to fix this

Hi i have a volkswagon golf which the abs sensor light is on and another yellow light is on in the dash and sometimes it beeps and the red handbrake light will flash. also my speed clock doesnt work at any...

firstly you need a new sensor or drive on the gearbox ,its located above the passenger side drive shaft where the diff is ,change this first so it works then see if the ABS light goes out ,temperature gauge could just be a faulty sender unit on the engine .If the ABs light still doesnt go when speedo is repaired then check the sensors with a automotive meter and also check the toothed gear ring on each wheel as they do sometimes crack and come loose on the drive shaft .This fault will also throw the brake warning lights on for this vehcle

Volkswagon bora 130 tdi is juddering with asr light coming on and staying on bit like changing gear at low revs but it does go not away unless turn car off and start again or turn asr off before driving...

asr works in conjunction with abs.to stop a wheel it(the car)thinks is loosing grip, from spinning.By applying the brakes to the wheel that is loosing grip,so the car is applying the brake. hence the juddering. if it stops when you turn it (asr)off it must be a sensor fault.easy way is to plug in the diagnostic computer to pinpoint faulty unit. if you dont drive very enthusiastically, then turn asr off until next mot/service.get back if you need any more info ....

Ignition locking on by 2001 Porsche Boxster S

It is known for ignition switches to fail. Sometimes they won't turn, other times they leave the starter engaged and sometimes the radio, A/C or wipers won't work. You may crank the car to start sometimes and the key does not spring back from crank to run. Check this first. Good luck....
