Question about 1999 Chevrolet Tracker

99 chevy tracker is running very rough at idle

Shows code for egr and cam shaft postion sensor any of these the problem for the miss at idle and for that matter at all rpms just not as noticable...almost like running with 3 of 4 plugs

    what one do i attack first...i cleaned the egr and it wont idle now at all..and with the price of these sensors i want to make sure

    first of did you ruin the gasket taking it off,second did you check all the vacuum lines, is the valve in the closed position if not the car wont idle

Have you checked for a broken valve spring. Repaired a dodge engine with the same running issue as you have described and it was a broken intake valve spring.

2006 Chevy Trailblazer started to run rough in idle but only after it warms up. My mechanic got P0017 code on his scan tool and told me I needed to replace the Crankshaf and Camshaft sensors. Both sensors...


Bad coolant temp sensor or EGR valve stuck. You can remove and test temp sensor (the one for the ECM--has only one wire) using cold and then hot water and read resistance with ohm meter.

Would a code 720 cause the following problem?


No the speed sensor will not cause misfires at higher speeds and this sensor is located on transmission case up high and towards the tail shaft Not in the tail shaft that one is the vehicle speed sensor and it sets a po500 code.

Stalling wont idle


  • egr valve
  • egr sensor
  • cam shaft sensor
  • barometric pressure sensor (map sensor)
vacuum leak somewhere, out of time, broken timing belt or missing teeth.
