Under coatm meaning under the vehicle? If so, Get some sprat on undercoating from a parts store and recoat where needed under yje vehickw. To be clearm we are not talking about the clear coat in the body paint, correct? Clear coat on body psint finishes can only be corrected by a body paint shop. Needs to be sanded and respayed. Good luck.

I'm sorry I misread the clearcoat. The clearcoat is a paint shop issue and can't be stoped without sanding and respraying. Sorry.

My 2005 Hyundai Elantra looks disgusting. The clear paint is peeling off all over the back section of the car. This car is electric blue, and not yet 6 years old! What has caused this. Paint/panel guys...

Deterioration of the clearcoat can be caused from several things, not the least of which is the environment, such as acid rain or air polution. Usually it is caused from lack of maintenance, such as not using a protective wax or polish regularly. I have seen instances where too much polishing with a power buffer caused the clearcoat to wear away. Or it could just be a poor factory paint job. Lots of those around. Shop around for a good price on repaint. Where I am from, there is a paint and body business call MAACO that will repaint a car very cheaply. Their paint jobs don't last more than a couple of years, but they look really good when fresh. You may find someone who paints cars as a hobby, or second income. They usually do decent work for little profit. Check the want ads and local bulletin boards. You may be surprised at how affordable a new paint job can be.

My paint is peeling off my 2004 black galant

thats a sign of not enough clearcoat from the factory or just a bad batch. i would bring it in to the dealership and tell them cause there might be a bulliton on it and the manufacture could pay to have it repainted.

1992 960 clearcoat

Google Chrome interrupted me and sent off an incomplete response,
As I was saying, 'Dealer added' clearcoat is doomed to failure according to an expert automotive painter I knew who did only high-end repainting on expensive vehicles.
He claimed that unless the clearcoat was applied over paint that had not yet cured, it would not bond to the paint underneath of it. It could behave like two unrelated layers and the clearcoat, not having a molecular bond with the paint below it, could shatter and separate for several reasons; temperature changes and (as it was in my case) exposure to salt air were two of these.   I doubt that Volvo will do anything for your car since cosmetics are considered secondary to mechanical failure and after 16 years, they may consider the complaint petty.

Hi,i recently used a DUPLI-COLOR CLEARCOAT TOUCH UP PAINT on 2 small areas where the clearcoat had peeled off when i replaced an emblem on my 1995 Deville. It is a bit noticeable when light shines at a certain angle--but more importantly, IT STOPS THE CLEARCOAT FROM PEELING OFF ANYMORE.

1992 Mitsubishi Pajero factory paint number? (metalic green)

The factory paint code is normally inside the engine bay by the firewall. It would be a sticker type/nameplate for external color and would have three digit number such as G13 or WWP or A31. It could also be found at radiator support, driver door jamb, passenger or door jamb.

Alternately, there would be several variations of green:
  • A86 – Greenish Silver Metallic Clearcoat
  • F26 – Foresta Green Pearl Clearcoat
  • F50 – Bluish Green Pearl Metallic Clearcoat
  • F89 – Neptune Green Metallic Clearcoat
  • G13 – Timber Green Pearl Clearcoat
  • G31 – Hannover Green Metallic Clearcoat
  • G39 – Cancun Green
  • G73 – Turquoise Green Metallic Clearcoat
  • G84 – Kilder Green Pearl Clearcoat
  • G90 – Santiago Green Metallic Clearcoat
  • G98 – St. Amour Green Metallic Clearcoat
  • L53 – Canadian Green Metallic Clearcoat
  • L95 – Loire Green Pearl Clearcoat
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
