Question about 1998 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup

1 Answer

When the headlights are on, the turn signal lights flash extreamly slow (unless the breaks are pushed, then they don't flash at all) and the break lights won't be on, nor will the tail lights. When the headlights are off, the turn signal flashes normally (unless the breaks are pushed, then they flash really fast)

The bulbs being out was the first thing I looked at. It's not the bulbs, not only have I replaced them to make sure, but I also replaced them again to make sure. Thanks for the answer, but it's not exactly the right one.

Sounds like you have a bulb out. Turn ot the emergency flashers and walk around it to see which one it is. Good Luck

I suspect there is a problem with the turn signal/ hazard switch. turn the turn signal on left or right, if it doesn't flash, grip the hazard button and gently wiggle it around, if the signals start flashing, replace the turn signal switch. The Brake lights are wired through the turn signal switch, if the 3rd brake light works, the brake switch is OK. I don't think it has anything to do with the anti theft system (at this time)

Replace bulbs as the contacts have melted or corroded and they will cross contact to the running lights that come on with the headlights. Check all.

Brake lights dont work, Turn Signals all goofy

First thing i would do is chg. the break light switch, and make sure to chk. all grounds around tailights, sometimes if there is a ground problem it will travel back thru the hot wire to get a ground, witch in turn makes everything go wackey.
