Stumbles and backfires on acceleration

1993 4.3L CPI "W" coded V6. Idles nicely, upon revving or acceleration the engine stumbles and backfires. Installed new distributor ignition module

    Do a thorough tune-up; cap, rotor, plug wires and spark plugs. This is just maintenance for this age of vehicle.

Check the distributor shaft. They have a history of developing finite cracks that causes the condition your describing. Let me know if I can help you with any other info.

have you checked the timing chain for wear because if the chain gear has chipped it can cause that to happen, some of those chains are made of plastic Teflon and they can brake off so I would look to see if that might be the problem, or recheck the points and the timing.

We need a little more to go on.
Any trouble codes stored? check engine light on etc.
Could be ignition or fuel related. A vacuum leak.

sounds like a crank sensor problem, or cheap fuel and engine in "get home mode"

fuel filter couldn't be removed huh !!! hmmm i think there would be no better place to start with than the fuel filter then onto the air filter etc ..but replace the fuel filter for sure

most likelly it is your fuel pump is not puting godd fuel pressure
have the fuel pressure test and if it is low have the fuel pump and filter replaced
