Try cleaning the egr valve. Worked for me.
The egr valve is located behind the air intake.

-Remove the air intake.

-Using 10 mm socket, universal joint adapter, extension and ratchet, remove the two 10 mm bolts securing the egr valve to the intake manifold.

-Using the extension helps, since it's a tight area to work in. Makes the removal and installation so much easier.

-Be careful not to ruin the gasket. You can replace it but you don't need to if you're careful while taking it off.

-Using a metal pick and carb cleaner, clean the egr valve until most of the carbon buildup is gone.

-Make sure the solenoid can move freely, WD-40 works well to lubricate the solenoid.

-Install egr valve, tighten bolts nice and tight, you can torque it to spec if you want (15-25 ft-lbs?).

You'll probably have to clean it every year...try not to buy cheap gas...as in crappy gas...Shell works well...Good luck

10 mm socket, 3/8 in. drive
24 in. Extension, 3/8 in. drive
3/8 in. universal joint adapter
Ratchet, 3/8 in. drive
carb cleaner, spray bottle
wiping rags
metal pick

the fuel pressure should be 60-66psi so i would start by changing the fuel pressure regulater to get pressure were it should be. to much pressure will bleed past the injector and cause the car to run as you described

My 1995 chevy astro 4.3l will not start. It turns over but does not have fuel or headlights. turn signals work.

It sounds like the fusible link,or links have burned into. They are located on the starter itself. They look like a wire, and are bolted on with the positive cable on the starter. To check them, just pull on them ,and they will pull apart like taffy. These are easy to replace,be sure to disconnect the neative cable first. You can purchase these fusible links at a auto parts store.NAPA carys them,i know. They are not expensive either.Do not use regular common everyday wire. You will burn the van down to the ground if there is a short. When you install these, and connect the battery back up look at the fusible link,or links to see that they are not burning back up.Besides a short, these fusible links go out do to hard starts(holding the key to start at low battery voltage. After you replace these links, check or have the battery checked, and the alternator,to see if it is charging enough. If I can help, let me know, this should be the only reason for this to have happened.

95 astro van will turn over but won't start. The fuel filter was replaced and when you turn the ignition key you can hear the fuel pump running and it'll try to fire once but after that it just will keep...

try changing the turn and brake light fuses.
this is a common problem i've run into and it usually solves it.chevy for some reason hooked the fuel pump in with this fuse.
good luck
