There isn't a drain plug. You just remove the bolts. Try and remove all but a couple from one end and you can pull it down to drain. Keep in mind that it will be stuck to the gasket. You can make quite a mess if you don't know what you're doing.

How do you change the transmission fluid in a 2007 ford explorer? I've already drained it, can't take it to a dealer now.

if you drained it then you need to look in your owner's manual for the right amount of fluid that your transmission takes then put fluid through the transmission fluid dipstick. If you got any question plz feel free. Good luck

I have a 2007 Limited Ford Explorer, 4.6 L V-8 with 75,000 miles on it. I want to change the spark plugs, but have heard from two sources that you need to be extra careful ? Plus, I have also heard that...

Based on my experience...If you have the tranny fluid flushed/exchanged using a machine, like at a quicky lube type place...those machines show a measurement as the service is being done which represents flow...too low then change the filter as well. Not like the old days when the tranny pan had to be dropped to get fluid out, and other contaminants and therefore the filter was always changed as well. Hope this helps.

I need change the automatic transmission fluid Explorer 2002 E.B.

There IS a transmission drain plug on the 2002 Ford Explorer! It is, however, difficult to get the fluid back in as there IS NO dipstick (tube) to refill it. I installed the pan bolts far enough to hold the pan up (level) and then stuck a hose (attached to a funnel at top of engine compartment) through the opening between the pan and the bottom of the transmission. I was able to put five quarts in that way - no more as it will overflow (trust me). You can check other sites on how to check to see if that's enough and how to add more as needed. That's not simple either. Great idea Ford Motor Company (sarcasm) !!!!!!

Hi, I have a problem, my friend is doing a oil change onmy 2006 eddie bouer explorer he just call me to ask me if I know where the transmission fluid goes, I have no idea he found the oil change cap but,...

there is no oil fill tube. The correct procedure is to fill the pan through the drain plug. Remove the small inner plug, with the vehicle running fill the pan until ther is a small steady stream coming out of the drain plug.
