Question about 1994 Buick Regal Gran Sport

1 Answer

1994 Buick Regal 3800 shut off periodically and now won't turn on

This Regal's been sitting in my mom's garage for at least 4 years. Last summer she got it all tuned up, fixed everything that was having problems, and put the car back in use. It's been running fine up until about a month ago or so when i noticed an unnatural sound. the car was a couple miles overdue for an oil change so i got that done and the noise seemed to go away. About two weeks after the oil change she started acting up again; noise came back and she'd shut off at particular times, mainly when i'd be slowing down and taking a sharp turn (going into parking spots, etc). Lately the clanking noise has been getting worse until last night she shut off on the road and wouldn't turn back on. We finally got her started again but it was a rough ride home. The noise was getting increasingly worse and the car was shutting off periodically. The oil gauge said the oil was low but i knew it had oil. i checked it again this morning when the engine was cooled down and sure enough there was plenty of oil. The car won't start at all now. Doesn't even crank. The battery is in perfect condition btw. What do i do??

Sounds like you need an internal inspection of the engine. Valves, lifters, rods. pistons and rings etc. One of the worst things for cars is to let them sit for years.

Engine hesitation

When is the last time the engine had a tune up with new spark plugs and an inspection of the ignition coils? Ignition coils were a pretty common issue with the V6 engine around that model year.

I have a 1996 hyundai sonanta that was passed down to me from my mom. When she got a new car he really didnt need the sonata but kept it to give to me when i can drive. it worked fine but we kept it...

Could be, but guessing costs more than fixing. The gasoline we have now, doesnt like to sit, it causes all kinds of issues. Have it towed and checked out by a repair shop. Stay away from any chain store, find a family operated repair shop.

I have a 99 Buick regal that stalls while driving or just sitting still replaced mass air flow sensor an that didn't fix it and no garage can figure out why its doing it can you please help. to describe it...

Replace the fuel filter. If that doesnt do it which it probably will, make sure the fuel pressure is consistent, as it could be a faulty fuel pressure sensor.

My 1997 VW Golf GL has rattle as I accelerate in first and second

I am going through the exact same problem with my 1997 golf 2.0 I-4.   I am making the assumption that this noise is loudest at about 1200-1500 rpm, or atleast most noticeable.   It could be attributed to a faulty catalytic converter which is a necesarry fix (in order to smog), and being that your O2 sensor is hooked into that whole system, you could be potentially giving away a few mpg.  This a relatively easy issue to deal with, and noise should go away when the converter is replaced.
