BMW 318i E46 oil leaking once the car is started. But does not leak when car is switched off at all.

1) your engine has worn or damaged valve stem oil seals.
2) valve steam excessively worn
3)plugged drain back holes
4)engine oil being blown ut past the intake manifold gasket
5)punctured automatic transmission modulator diaphragm
6)oil viscosity is too low.
God bless you

I cant find the oil leak on my 318i BMW, If it helps you & I what are main areas to find the leak? Thanks.

Let the car warm up and then pull it onto a clean driveway or over cardboard so you can see where it is leaking. Usually vehicles will leak more when the vehicle is running because the oil is hot and thins out a little. Might be around the oil filter or worst case one of the main seals.

BMW 318i engine leak close proximity to Oil Pressure Sensor

Remember, the leak is detected at the bottom. Follow it to it's source.

Just like a roof leak, the water shows up where the roof meets the wall but the leak is way up above.

If their is black smoke from the tail pipe then it's over fueling. First check is the air filter if it's o.k. then get the fuel system checked. You should be getting 30 to 35 mpg but if you have a bodykit and wide wheels fitted depending on the type of kit and wheel's it can take up to 10 mpg more to run it. If it has a lot of mile's on it and no service history the engine and injection system may be worn leaving it with less power ond more fuel. Your mecanic will do a compresion test for you which check's ware in your engine. As for the oil problem sorry I can't advise as I don't know where you see the oil but after washing it should be easily seen unless it is comming from behind a casing or someone may have spilled a bit when changing or topping up.

I have bmw 318I the oil indicator for motor appear when use break

The engine is low on oil. but assuming it is not.
The engine is either idling to low .
The engine oil pressure itself is low. The engine oil pressure switch is leaking or not reading the oil pressure in the car.
I assume there is not knocking noise from the engine.
I would check for any oil leaks on the engine .
IF there are no leaks , I would change the oil pressure sesnor or switch first .
This could lead into major engine work.

Good luck

Car Oil Leak

bmw has a problem in that the exhaust manifold bolts are through to the rocker cover oil reservoir and the stud threads allow oil past the threads , past the washer and onto the hot manifold
the fix is to remove the studs and use a thread sealer in the threads to seal off the threads
use a quality thread sealer ( suggest loctite red gasket sealer as it is heat resistant)
there is nothing wrong other than a lack of bmw knowledge
discuss it with the bmw shop to see what they say
