Question about Ford Escort
The check engine light came on in my truck and then went back off a few moments later, I called the auto parts store and they said they can't read it unless that light is on. Is that true because I have heard it doesn't matter if the light is on or not if it has come on in the past you can read the computer. what should i do
Yes it is true, those parts stores only see active codes because their scan tools are very basic. Now a dealership scan tool can read historic codes as well as active codes.
If it went off i really wouldnt worry about it, but if your really dedicated on wonder what it is then i would take it to your local dealership.
