Engine is pinking, predetonation of fuel or the fuel mixture is weak which can be caused by a vacumn leak on the inlet manifold ,such as the take off for the servo ,or the manifold bolts loose. Also the timing is set wrong which could be a fault with sensor or the sensor drive ring .Without the car in front of me i cannot really diagnose a fault like this ,either get the VW mechanic to have a look and if he thinks its electronic then take it to VW

Your transmission and cv axle is running dry. Grease it up, fill it up
and try it again. And tighten whatever is loose that is allowing it to
    leak.

if still not work then check this one too

first check the battery connections. make sure they are tight and
corrosion free. corrosion will show up as white fluffy chuncks. if
there is corrosion use a mixture of sodium bicarbonate(baking soda) and
water to clean and then coat the terminals with petroleum jelly or
fiber washers available at auto part stores.

if all is well there when the condition occurs again try using a jumper
on the start relay to see if it starts right away. if so your starter
relay is probably on the way out and should be changed before it dies
    completely.

im not too sure exactly where it will be on your car but they are
usually found along the left side of the engine compartment and are
easily identified as the positive battery cable goes to one big screw
and the other screw beside it holds a wire going to the starter. use
normal jumper cables but only employ one color (red to red or black to
    black)

How often do I change the fuel filter on my 2006 volkswagen jetta....(not a diesel)

Changing the fuel filter on a gasoline Jetta is NOT included as a routine service. Which may be good news for you (i.e. they don't need to be changed). Any reputable VW technician will recommend changing the filter between 60 and 80,000 miles, as a precaution.

How to change the fuel filter (that is under the back seat) of a 2001 Volkswagon Jetta Wolfsberg Edition.

The fuel filter for a diesel engine (Tdi) is in the engine bay, a little behind the front right headlamp. The only thing under the back seat is a circular plastic access panel, which when removed gives you access to the fuel pump.

Yeah this could definitely be the fuel filter, change it yourself and save the cash, it's pretty easy, although you may spill some fuel.

2003 Jetta TDI deisel fuel filter change

Fill the filter with ATF, if no diesel fuel is handy. The T section with double o rings and a hair clip was removed, pour ATF in the resultant hole until it was full. Remove the clear line from the filter to the pump by disconnecting it at the filter. With a thin tube fill the line with ATF fluid until no bubbles remained. Reconnect the clear line to the filter. The car should start immediately.

F350 2000 stalling and sputtering while driving after running a while or runs fine

Many possibilities:
Is it a Diesel?
Camshaft position sensor recall may cover it.
Gas or Diesel:
Fuel Pump and/or relay.
Fuel Filter.

Engine codes could help if Check Engine Light is on.
