Heater fan stopped working after hearing clicking noise under dash

After 2 years of vehicle storage heater at high setting made clicking noises had bad smell then fan totally died

Need to change fan motor, it may have been blocked by something, but the motor has burnt out. This is a difficult job, and the wiring near the fan may also be burnt, more difficult. I would sell the car.

The clicking noise is most likly the starter solinoid cycling in and out. This is due to low battery voltage. charge the battery, then have the battery and charging system tested. Some auto supply stores will do this for free for you in the hopes of selling parts

SOURCE: 2001 New Beetle A/C fan noise

I think it is the cabin/ pollen filter. The noise is louder on normal AC operation cos thats when the air is being pulled in through the filter and the sound decreases with recirculate because the filter only functions for outside air.
Need to use a credit card or similar to seperate and move the upper dash centre piece towards windscreen, it clips off. Then open the 3 x torx screws and lift the dash on the passenger side. then remove the plastic cover (oddly shaped) it has about 7 screws, then twist and remove, it requires some real effort, then pollen filter is visible. replace filter and voila! it would make your AC perform like a new car again!!

Chances are it is in fact not the switch. These systems are wired so that at high speed setting battery power is connected directly to the fan. However lower settings switches through a set of resistors. These are mounted on a circuit board which in your case is mounted on the firewall on the passenger side of the vehicle under the wiper. Check this before you turn the control panel into a heap of spares on the garage floor.

Hi Abner Clicking noise, if it goes with speed of engine and wasn't there before the valve train was adjusted. Take it back to be rechecked. If the valve train was adjusted to try and get rid of the clicking sound and it hasn't worked. The only thing you can do is get someone with technical knowledge to have a look at it. Unfortunately noises are somewhat impossible to diagnose unless you are standing at the vehicle. ( check engine oil level).
Blower motor one of four things (1) Poor electrical connection ( loose or slightly burnt connection to motor remove connector and check). repair or replace as necessary. (2) Something stopping the fan from turning (if pollen filter fitted above motor remove and with a mirror and torch check down inside on top of fan. (3) if a heater rheostat/resister is fitted in the location of the heater box this maybe faulty however when these fault it normally allows the fan to only work when you switch fan to maximum speed. (4) the fan itself is faulty . replace fan/motor. Good luck

Heater clicking noise in gmc envoy
Do you hear a clicking noise when you turn your truck on? Its probably the actuator. While the defroster was on I removed the fuse locted under the rear driver side seat. I think its 36B. It stopped the clicking noise and my air vents work well now.

My heater stopped working the other day. When I turn it on I can hear the fan clicking a little as though it wants to start working then nothing. Before it stopped completely it was only working on the...
No info on year, make or model, so I will just say, follow wires back from fan motor under dash and the place where they connect should be a blower resistor. Replace the resistor and try it.
