Question about 1998 Dodge Intrepid

1 Answer

Check engine light came on and the car started to **** like it was misfiring real bad. Then I tried to punch the accelerator to pass another vehicle and the car was unresponsive. 2 days later the light goes off and the car acts normal again? The code reader said it was the camshaft sensor. Could it be anything else? Please advise.

Alot of times the code you read is not the source of the problem, i suggest you check wiring to every 5 volt refference sensor on this vehicle. alot of times the a/c high pressure switch wires short approx. 2 in. inside the loom and take out the whole 5 volt ref.signal, causing multiple gohst codes, before you spend anything, unplug any 5v. sensor eg. t.p.s. and wiggle wires at all sensors while testing for 5v at t.p.s. hope this helps, as a former chrysler tech. i have been fooled by theese codes.

Hi, the name is Monica I have a 2008 accent. When I initially start my car it seems fine, in park or neutral I punch the pedal and the engines revs perfectly. The problem comes after the engine warms up...

Hello Monica.,Take it to your local garage and ask them to check out the onboard computer.
You can do it yourself often. Just disconnect your battery for 2 mins and then reconnect.. If the same.. the garage.,

good luck

While merging onto the highway when my car hit 3 and 4th gear the engine seemed to "stutter/misfire" during harder acceleration. Check engine light also flashed briefly during hard acceleration. Dur

Could be a transmission problem or something as simple as bad spark plugs.
The engine is under the most load when RPM is low and you are trying to accelerate, such as when it upshifts.
You should have the computer checked for trouble codes and hopefully that will point you in the right direction to test.
If the spark plugs have more than 50,000 miles of wear you might start with replacing them.

Misfire and want accelerate

If the car is misfiring that is most likely the reason you can't accelerate. If the check engine light is on you may be able to know for sure as it could have codes for engine misfire, and possibly even which cylinder is missing. This could be due to something simple like a bad or dirty spark plug, an ignition coil problem or possibly an engine issue but an issue like that will most likely be pretty severe with smoke in the tailpipe or loss of coolant or oil.
Start with the easiest thing. If the check engine light is on you need to find out what code is stored in the computer.

I just had a new catalytic converter, and spark plugs/wires put on my 2002 impala v6 3.4L. I drove it about 10 miles just fine, and now when I try to accelerate the engine loses power, starts shuddering...

The blinking engine light is a definite sign that vehicle is misfiring.I would check and make sure none of the wires came loose. You can also check the plugs to make sure none were cracked during installation. If you have access to a scan tool it should tell you exactly what cylinder or cylinders are misfiring.

Cylinder 1 misfire

First step is to check the plugs; hearing a lot online about this being a fuel injector problem. You can try injector cleaner, check the plugs and wires (clear the code) and see if this clears your problem.
If not, it's likely fuel injector(s) is bad.
