The car is a 96 chrysler cirrus the new inner tie and has a groove where it can be tightened with a wrench but the old one that is still installed is totally smooth and it is round ??? i dont know how to get it off
Use a pipe wrench and hold the rack gear with a 7/8 crow foot.

Cut the tierod off where it meets this egg shape. Then what i sue is a socket, i bang it on (not to hard it will break stuff) then am able to put a rachet on and un screw them. A beter solution for you if you dont wana chance breaking anything would be to still cut it off but go and buy a lug nut removal kit. This kit will have sockets that are made to bite in to things and unscrew them with a ratchet. Make sure the kit u get will be big enuf for the job.
