Question about 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

2 Answers

My 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited power cuts out when I turn the ignition sometimes, I have checked fuse box under hood all ok, ckd battery, starter, alternator, all good, not sure what else.. is there a fuse/switch for the ignition or what else could this be? When the power cuts out sometimes the needles on the gages "dance" cant get it to start no matter what I move or fuses I replace then will get power back for no apparent reason and can start it.. sometimes it will last only a couple of seconds or last awhile.

Mine is doing the same thing. I've tried to replace the battery cables and fix all of the grounds, still happens.

sounds like you may have a loose connection somewhere or an ignition switch may be failing

does it make any diffrance if you wiggle the key ?

Did you lose your key or had it replace because if you did that might be the problem. my jeep has a key with a chip on it and if i start it with my extra it will turn off after a couple seconds there is a fast way to chek it. on your dash check the light with the circled key if it blinks when you turn it off. most definitely thats the problem

Battery drain, fuse #12 in 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

On the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee the # 15 fuse is the IOD circuit. (Ignition Off Drain) The # 12 fuse is the power windows. Both fuses are 50 amp.

This IOD fuse #15 powers the distribution box that contains the 50 amp fuse. Pull each fuse in the under hood.

Pull each fuse in the under dash. Check for on the passenger side floor is an additional fuse panel.

Before going to far suggest at night checking for any lights lit. The draw is about right for a small light bulb.

Typical draw for parked car is around 100 milliamps

Suggest that you disconnect power to the car for several minutes. Reconnect the battery. The object is to reset the body electronics module.

If the computers in the modules get a glitch they can cause a drain. By cycling the power, disconnecting battery, they will reset to factory settings. Reported it can take up to 20 minutes for the circuits to drain before you can reset!.

the following web site does a great job of explaining all that is going on. What appears to be simple to troubleshoot is not so easy. He comments about delay before sleep are important. Testing after overnight may result in a different drain rate. Make sure that your battery meets specifications. In 2000 the drain rate may be relatively high and the reserve capacity of your battery low.

Jeep grand cherokee drives then stops -no power to anything

More than likely you probably have a faulty relay switch. Under the hood you will find a relay box with a removable top. Check the relay that runs the ignition fuel pump. It heats up and then breaks the electrical current and disables the vehicles ignition or fuel system and the vehicle shuts down until the relay cools and reengages.

You have 2 fuse boxes on this vehicle. One is under the dash on the drivers side, next to the door. The other one is under the hood on the passenger side between the battery. I hope you find out your answer to the problem. I am having the same problem. Peace and blessings!

Whereis the fuse for the power windows on a 2004

The fuse is located in the Power Distribution Center, this located under the hood, passenger side, right behind the battery. Open the lid and read inside witch fuse is the right one.

My jeep will not start.

Pull the battery and have it checked. If battery tests ok you will need to replace the starter.
