Does the alternator work? Does the light go out if you unplug the plug in on the alternator?

  • Anonymous May 16, 2009

It should be plugged in to the side of the alternator. Just because it's new doesn't mean you got one that isn't bad.

Battery light is on n ijust put a new battery

Could be your alternator. Typically the battery light goes on only where there is a failure in the charging system. The batter has no built in feature to trigger a light fault. Go by any sears, autozone, parts supplier and they can test your charging system. It does not cost anything and give you an answer in 2 minutes. Also, if your car is putting out less than 13 volts while running you have a charging issue. That will drain the battery.

Hello my 2003 ford explorer has the brake light and check engine light on already. My question is my vehicle dies when i'm on the brakes or if it stays idle to long. So for the time being i put it in...

im not quite sure exactly what it is, tho i can tell you it is not the alternator, if i were you i would start by changing the fuel filter, that being parly pluged alone can kick the check engine light on and cause the vehicle to die at idle.. hope this helps, its definately the cheapest way to start.

97 ford explorer battery alternator and battery just replaced. Engine light is on and 4w drive lo and high lights keep blinking, what's wrong?

might have a bad o2 sensor wich is tripping your check engine light and a vacuum leak wich is causing your 4lo 4 high light to blink

My battery light won't go off even though i've had the alternator tested and installed brand new battery

well; on your car, the alternator has an internal regulator. have you checked any wires or harnesses that ran off the battery? And see if you may have a cut place on your cables, or if one has come loose from the ground.

2003 ford explorer battery light on

Are you sure the alternator isnt "over" charging? if not, you may have a "loose" connection somewhere with the cables, or a malfunction in the dash cluster. Also, are you positive the battery is forsure good?
