First thing to do is to take a look at the rear brakes and make sure there in good working order and adjusted properly.
then there is an adjustment in the cable ware the 2 cables from the rear brakes meet the cable coming from the cab

Changed rear brakes on 2004 kia spectra put new caliper on passenger side and pads on both sides now driver rear looked up and passenger side wont do anything

You may need to adjust the cable for your hand brake. The driver's side is too tight and the passenger side is too loose. Best thing to do is drop the hand brake (e-brake) down, loosen the adjuster on the drum, then lift the hand brake until you hear 5 clicks. Then adjust the handbrake cable on both sides until the disk just stops.

I tired to get my car inspected today put the told me they could not because of the emerency brake but could u tell me what it could me

Your rear brakes are probably in need of adjustment. Try to pull the hand brake around twenty times to adjust the rear brakes. If this does not work then you will need to check your star wheel adjustment screw. It could be frozen and need to be sprayed with something like sea foam or something else. The rear brakes should be fine if your inspector did not alert you that they are worn out

Having trouble replacing rear brake pads on a 1994 Lincoln Conntinental. Purchased a special tool to conpress the wheel cylinder. Left hand threads? Tried right handed and no luck. Please help!

The tool only turns in the parking brake adjuster
(clockwise)
You still have to push the piston in.

Open the bleeder valve
You have to flush the system on ALL
vehicles every 2 years anyway.

Hand brake not working moves up and down and does not assist with brake holding

You may have the brakes out of adjustment or a broken ebrake cable, the first thing is to go under the truck and have someone apply the e-brake and see if both rear cables are pulling. im not sure if you have drum or disc in the rear of this jeep but they both use cables, if the cables are working then you will need to remove the wheels and check the brakes, the brakes may be worn or out of adjustment.hope this helps.

HOW DO I ADJUST A HAND BREAK THATS LOOSE?

I recommend you get a Haynes repair manual on your vehicle as there are several adjustments you may need to look at. If this is the first time you have had this problem and have less than 50,000 miles on the brake pads then it is most likely the cable and there are a couple of places to adjust in most cases. If you have 50,000 or more miles on those read pads you may need to replace the rear brake pads. The manual will help you in doing this repair correctly.

How do I adjust the hand brake?

The adjustment is under the brake handle inside the center console.

BUT.....most of the time the emergency brake is loose is because the brakes are worn down or the automatic adjusters aren't working.

So before you go to all of the trouble of adjusting the emergency brake you may want to check the wear on the rear brake pads.

have you replace the caliper? if you did then when you stop loose the bleder of the caliper and if pressure come out tie the bleeder again and haved your mechanic remove the brake master cylinder and see if there is any adjustment for the push rod or shaft behinf the master cilinder and loose the adjustment to make it short but if there is no adjustment then leave the master little loose and if this take care of it you might have a wrong master installed or just need to adjust the rod behind master good luck
