Question about 1998 Mazda Pickup
Need wiring diagram I bought my B2500 new in March 1998, 2 months later with only 2000 miles on it Pump laid down and died in the middle of nowhere. 3 days later the Mazda dealer in that area replaced it from a new truck on their lot (tank and all) as no parts were available (new model change). Then same thing happened at 67K miles, but I got a PepBoys pump only, and the gauge did not work for 2 years. Then at 105K #3 with a Mazda replacement pump and sender unit (still no fuel gauge sigal, until I discovered 2 years later that the contacts were not snapped in tightly). Today it died again (this will make 5 pumps). What's up? I only have 175K miles. My last Mazda never had to have the pump replaced, and I traded it in at 375K miles. Got to be something else.

SOURCE: p1391 diagnostic code
the code is for intermitent loss of cam or crank sensor...one of the sensors maybe going bad or i have run into the wiring where it comes over the rear of the engine chaffing at the valve cover causing the loss of the signal

The fuel pump shut-off switch is
located in the passenger’s foot well,
behind the kick panel. There is an access hole.

If that problem with the gas guage is bothering you badly enough, then you will have to replace the fuel pump. The repair shop is on the up and up. The fuel level sending unit on the Mazda 6 is an integral part of the fuel pump assembly and is monitored by the computer. If the sending unit is defective then the entire pump assembly must be replaced, since the pump cannot be disassembled. Sorry about that, but I sure hope this helped ya!

go to the link below and choose the 1998 ford ranger as the truck, they are the same, then follow the link to ford site and download the 1998 ranger owners manual, the fuse diagrams are in there

Undo the fuel inlet Banjo bolt and carefully fish with a piece of wire bent at the end (as pictured) and fish out the filter (under the spring) wash and replace. Can be very fiddly, so patience is a must.
