Question about 1994 Pontiac Trans Sport

A/C compressor not engaging.

Have a 1994 Pontiac Transport 3.1. The van had all of its air conditioning repaired/replaced 2 years ago(compressor was used or a rebuild). Several months after this, the owner died. Van sat in a barn for 2 years and just a week ago it came to me. Initially the a/c was blowing ice cold. Days later, fan is blowing but no cold air. Blower is working. However, when the a/c is turned on, the compressor is not engaging. I checked fuse in glove compartment and it is o.k. Checked to ensure power plug is conected to compressor. Is there an in-line fuse? What else could it be? I am not any kind of a mechanic, I only checked things that made sense to me. Please help!!

IF THE SYSTEM HAS A LEAK, THEN THE COMPRESSOR CLUTCH WILL NOT ENGAGE. TRY PUTTING SOME 134A FREON IN THE LOW SIDE(LARGER OF THE TWO LINES). AND SEE IF THE CLUTCH PULLS IN. IF IT DOES, THEN THERE IS A LEAK SOMEWHERE. IF YOU GET THE FREON WITH THE LEAK DETECTOR DYE IN IT, THEN YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO LOCATE IT RATHER EASY. SOME CANS COME WITH A STOP-LEAK, BUT THESE TEND TO CLOG UP THE ORIFICE TUBES. HOPE THIS HELPS. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA. GOOD LUCK

We had the serpenitne belt replaced on our mini van two weeks ago now the air conditioning doesn't work. When I called they said one wouldn't have to do with the other. Do you think that's

Replacing the belt would have nothing to do with causing the air conditioning to stop working UNLESS the mechanic accidentally knocked loose the two terminal connector on the A/C compressor when replacing the belt. This is easy to do as the connector is in the immediate area of the belt and may have been. Check for loose connections around the compressor.

The air conditioning in my 1994 toyota pickup all of a sudden stopped working the compressor won't kick on but the pulley turns, does that mean i need a new compressor?

The air conditioning system has a pressure switch that won't let the compressor engage if the refrigerant is too low. You seem to have some sort of leak ... if something slow then one of the
refill and lube/seal kits from the auto parts store should get you going. Get one with a gauge so you don't over charge. Obviously if a major leak then repairs are in order.

Our 1994 pontiac transport van does not heat. Heater blower runs once in a while?

From your description, it sounds like your fan is the problem? I'm not intimately familiar with the pontiac vans but you pretty much need to track down the heater fan motor and the wiring between it and the switch. Check these wires for a fault and/or replace the wiring or the switch or the motor if need be. Because it's an intermittent fault, I think you probably just have a poor connection.

Check all your fuses just in case.

Good luck!

some of those vans came with an anti-theft passlock system, it's a small chip in the key-- if equipped, the sensor in the ignition lock cylender failed alot with the early systems, with similar symptoms

Firing order

If it's a 3.1 or 3.4, firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6

If it's a 3.8, firing order is 1-6-5-4-3-2.

On a 3.1 the rotation is Clockwise.

All the best.
