Cyl 8 filling with gas and hydrolocking engine

Thought the injector was stuck open replaced with new injector and still has the same symptoms

    well for testing purposes i think that its worth ohming out the signal wire to see if there is high resistance ...i also saw something that the signal from the distributor could be an issue im going to check both of these things ...valves have nothing to do with a cylinder filling with gas ...compression test with matching numbers across the board ...koeo fuel pump relay plugged in cyl 8 plug removed let sit for 30 secs crank engine fuel shoots out of the spark plug hole .....

    without the engine running there is nothing the valves have to do with the issue ....koeo the whole time ...not koer ...its a fuel injected 302 so its getting a trigger signal telling cyl 8 injector to open and thats what its doing ..its staying open

Hi, this is bad valve timing or a bad valve spring located on the number 8 cylinder. the valves are out of time or they are sticking. this scan also be a early signal of a bad cam spot as well.

The only way this cylinder can over fill is if the valve is sticking or the spring is busted. i would inspect the valve clearance and timing on this cylinder. inspect the rocker arm and spring for faults as well.

    The computer is rarely the cause of problems in the fuel system. When
    it is, the parts are not repaired. The entire unit is replaced.

Check to see if the injector signal wire is shorted to ground, to check this disconnect the ECM, pull the connector off the injector, the red lead is 12 volts, the other wire is the signal wire, probe the connector with one end of a Ohm meter and touch the other to ground, there should be no more than 3 ohms showing.

My first guess would be faulty injectors that are staying open.
Do you loose fuel pressure if the injectors are unplugged ?

Where should I look to resolve a P0204 error code on a 2004 VW Beetle?

Fuel in the injector harness can result in a short causing this code. The only way for fuel to be there is a leaky injector. Dry off harness and monitor. Even though the injector is new, it may be defective. The next place to look is the wiring harness itself. You will have to find where the wiring for #4 injector goes into the vehicles computer and perform a resistance test from the injector harness to the computer to make sure there is no high resistance/opens. If all checks out fine, the computer may be bad. VW computer failure rates are extremely low. I would concentrate on a wiring issue.

The symptoms for this code will likely be a misfire and a rough running engine, poor acceleration and the MIL will also be illuminated....
The cause for this fault code could be any of these:
A bad injector.
Open in the wiring to the injector.
Short in the wiring to the injector.
Bad PCM.

This is how you fix these ^ problems:
First, using a DVOM check the resistance of the injector. If it isn't within specs, then replace the injector.
Check for voltage at the injector connector. It should have 10 volts or more.
Visualy check the injector for damage.
If you have access to an injector checker, activate the injector and see if it operates. If the injector operates, then you likely have an open in the wiring, or a blocked injector. If you don't have access to an injector tester, swap it with another injector and see if the code changes. If the code changes, then change the injector with a new one.
At the PCM, remove the driver wire from the PCM connector and ground the wire (make sure you have the correct wire. If your'e not sure, do not attemp.) The injector should activate.
Replace the injector.....

Ran out of gas in 2003 trailblazer runs rough ever since and poor fuel milage

I show a fuel filter for the 8 cyl engine so I assume there is one for the 6 cyl too. Around 2004 or 2005 GM stopped using replaceable filters.
I would start with replacing the filter and running a few cans of injector cleaner thru the gas. You may have picked up some dirt from the bottom of the tank.

How do you know the engine hydrolocked? Did your mechanic tell you?
Hydrolocking occurs when the engine gets filled with a liquid such as oil or water, and because it's not compressible the way air is, it jams up the engine and prevents it from turning. It might bend parts and cause damage if you're not lucky. Generally the spark plugs should be removed and the engine turned to expel the liquid and allow it to turn again. Then you'll have to determine the extent of the damage.
If you changed the thermostat yourself, and in the process, stuck a garden hose down the air intake instead of filling the radiator, you could have filled it with enough water to hydrolock it. Otherwise, it's pretty unusual that a thermostat replacement could cause hydrolocking.

Tighten Gas Cap Error Message

seems that your vent hose on the tank is plugged so the tank is over pressurrizing sending the error code and not allowing you to fill it all the way unclog the vent tube and this will solve the problem

it sounds like the injectors are not opening up man.. replace the injectores and this should fix your problem..good luck keith....
