Thanks for the help...it's much appreciated. Now if I could just figure out where the low pressure port is and what the pressure gadge should read when I refill it? I am going to try to do this myself...blower works just fine but no ac so I think it's empty. Also, am I going to be able to switch cans since I have only seen 18 oz sizes?

Thanks for the comment...I thought my system took 39 oz so I figured I would need about that amount. Glad to know I don't. I knew the hose would only fit the low pressure side...just wanted an idea where it was located in the engine. From what I have seen there is a spot by the radiator that looks like the coupling for the hose but I could be wrong...

Your refill hose will only fit your low pressure side. You shouldn't need more than a large can to fill your system. I'm not positive on exact pressure for your vehicle, but if you overfill your system, your compressor will start to lock and your belt will squeal. If you over fill it, release the excess pressure until the system stops squealing.

Where is the fuel filter on a 1998 dodge dakota slt

Only the 4 cyl engine models used a serviceable filter in 1998.
Last year for the V6 and V8 models was 1994.
Most vehicles built after 2003 do not use a fuel filter.
If it had a filter it would be in the fuel line under the truck.

Where is the coolant temperature sensor?

I went to an autio parts store and looked in a Hayes repair manual that told me where the temperature sensor is located. It is behind the alternator screwed into the top of the engine block right beside the upper radiator hose.

Adding Freon to 1997 Dodge Dakota SLT

You can purchase R134a cans with a built in gauge so you don't overcharge... Assuming the system has not completely discharged, usually a can or less will do. Here is a link with some basic instructions:
