I had this problem on an old Civic I used to have.  Pull the nozzle out one to two inches and try again.  That should do it.  Always worked for me.  Just make sure you don't pull it out too far and spray gas everywhere.  Man I remember what a pain that was too!

When pumping gas it clicks off before the tank is full. it take long time to fill up my tank. got the answer-vent pipe kinked neeed to replace assembly. $00.00 was quoted at HYundai! do not have 600.00Is...

Had the same problem with my Explorer. Yes - the part is expensive, and if you do not replace it you will spend lots of time filling your tank trying to get it full.

When refueling my Elantra will not accept fuel as it used to. fuel backs up in filler tube. takes ten to fiffteen minets to fill!

If there is a rubberized hose (and there probably is) connecting the fill pipe to the tank, check to make sure it hasn't partially collapsed, thereby restricting fuel flow thru it.

Can't get gas into my 2002 Hyundai Accent.

The reason the gas station pump shuts off is when the fuel reaches the tip of the gas nozzle, so when you are filling your car and the gas nozzle (gas stations pipe) keeps shutting off it means that the pipe that runs to the gas tank is not open completely, what happens is when you pump the gas in the car the supply pipe from the gas tank opening to the tank fills up quickly and this causes the gas station pipe nozzle to shut off, have some body take down the gas tank and have a look at the gas tank opening and also gas supply pipe that runs from the gas filler opening ( on the car body) to the gas tank. Have a look at it and please don't forget to rate the answer if it was helpful, thanks!

Every time I fill up my 2002 Hyundai Elantra at gas station

Stop and talk to a dealer to see if they have a TSB on this problem,
Dodge had this problem and they corrected it by installing new tanks.

When I pump gas, the gas pump clicks off every few seconds or so. I can't get more than 2 gallons in the tank before it clicks off. I takes me like 10 minutes to fill my tank.

is this happening at the same pump??? Each pump has a tiny vacuum line that's located in the spout. When the gas reaches a certain level and starts to cause a vacuum, the pump shuts off

Can't fill gastank...pump keeps tripping off after ever few cents

dear friend-you will have to have a look at the rooting of your filler pipe, there must be a restriction in the pipe.rather remove and inspect properly

Can't fill the tank

There is a breather tube fitted to the tank which allows air to escape when you fill it with fuel.

That is either blocked or compressed.

When you take the filler cap off is there a gust of air in or out of the tank

Low idle, also engine runs alittle ruff after fill-up.

Sounds like the fuel pump is starting to go, the problem after fill up is most always related to a failing pump. The other issue may be a dirty throttle valve.

Hyundai Accent 2003 - gas pump clicks off when tank isn't full.

Having trouble pumping gas into 2005 hyundai elantra

You have a blocked or restricted evaporative cannister or vent valve or both. When you fill the tank with gas, the air is expelled through a line attatched to the emissions cannister and then through another line to the vent valve. If these are restricted or damaged, this could cause your symptoms. Usually you can still fill the tank very slowly though. Usually, the canister ges saturated from gas from overfilling (topping off).
The fix is to replace the EVAP canister.
