Radio dead after changing battery

Radio will not work after changing battery. I think $120 is a rip off for local dealer to help get security code . Any cheaper ideas?

Need the radio code to reset after battery was disconnected.

Afraid there is no radio code as such....the Saab headunit is paired to the car with Saab Tech 2 software.
A dead battery swap shouldnt lose the radio if it was working before you changed the battery.
Have you checked the fuse for the radio?

You should also post on Saabcentral

Just brought car, private sale, car sat for a year, new battery replaced before car sat. Owner states radio was working, but now it doesn't. What can I do?

its most probably in LOCK mode..

its a anti theft device..and yes, the radio locks up..WHEN THE BATTERY IS CHANGED..or when battery power is lost (ie dead battery)..

check the owners manual, for the code, or ask the previous owner if he know s the code..or lastely...and i hate to say it...go to dealer..

hope this helps..

let me know

Car sit for two years battery went dead replced that radio has power to it but wont change station or no sound nothing happens

it is most likely that the radio was reset when your car lost all power. it is the radio's theft deterent system. your local dealer can provide you with a security code if you do not have instructions for reset in the owner's manual.

Just, get the code online for free here:
http://www.radio-code.co.uk/ford-radio-codes.html
It requires serial number of your radio. ( Or just reply / send the S/N here, I'll handle the rest of process)

probably need a security code to unlock it after the dead battery, check in your owners manual or other paperwork that came with the car the code should be there somewhere. If not you may need to contact your local dealer. Hope this helps

I changed my battery and don't have the security code for the radio. I have the 8 digit code the radio flashed but need the security code to have it work.

Just go to your local Honda dealer armed with your registration and driver's license. They will look up your code by the VIN.

Changed battery now radio wants code only have half of manual

Either you or a previous owner programmed a security code into the radio. This keeps a potetial thief from installing your radio into another vehicle. If you don't know the code that was programmed into it, then you will have to take it to your local dealer, where they can insert a universal code (the identity of which they will not release to anyone) which will override and/or erase any other code. Once they do this, you will usually have the option of inserting your own code. (like using or changing your PIN) DONT lose it, or you will have the same problem the next time you have a dead battery.
