1995 Toyota camry sedan 4door 1838cc 16v 5speed manual needs timming degree is it 5degree or 4degrees bftdcentre

You won't notice the difference. Generally there is a leeway of plus or minus 2 degrees from that specified. The actual timing figure would be shown on the under hood VECI label or sticker (Vehicle Emission Control Information), the rectangular white label.

Can you if so how do you set timing with only using btdc and distributor on a 94 4runner

Ignition timing manual setting 1994 Toyota 4 Runner.
- Remove the distributor cap.
- Pull up the hand brake, place the vehicle in P or Neutral.
- Rotate the crankshaft pulley with a suitable tool to bring the timing mark at 5 degrees BTDC and the reluctor position in front of No. 1 position in distributor.
- Remove the rotor and adjust the distributor (by loosening two distributor locking bolts) in such a way that the No. 1 reluctor tooth just cross the G1 pickup coil notch in the direction of rotation in the distributor.
- Lock the distributor bolts, install rotor and install distributor cap.

How to set valves on Toyota 1991 23re engine

actually all engine that have lash can be set with no books
only the 2 numbers. for intake or exh. in usa its on the hood sticker.
the engine has a firing order, use that to set lash on all cars made.
all engines. (ASE 101 class day 1 , engine 1)
there are other ways (in the FSM) but we dont need that. at all.
lets say its a 4 banger, firing at 1,3,4,2 as most non boxers do.
so set #1 to firing TDC. set lash now.
then rotate crank 180deg. CW.
that is #3 firing, set lash at #3
180 more set 4
180 more set 2.
see why that works on all engines. ,
the trick works because its really 4 engines there.
you can set the in any order of you know how to find tdc firing.
nothing else needs to be known.

that hood sticker, open hood and look up,see EPA sticker there./
bingo. lash.

Hi Please help me with torque settings on toyota corolla 2005 1.6gle

of what the whole car.?
that is in the factory service manual (FSM)
or alldata.com

which engine,? lots of 1.6l MADE BY TOY?
NOT 4AFE (ended in 2001)
state side, we had 3 engine, non are 1.6L
the 1NZ-FE 1.5L
the 1ZZ-FE and 2ZZ-FE both are 1.8L
so what country are you in, ?
find true engine name (under hood, read stickers)
and google for that, I promise you will find it.

9th generation corolla
the e120?
world wide, (not USA) they had
1.6L I4 3NZ-FE
1.6L I4 1ZR-FE
1.6L I4 3ZZ-FE

as you can see 1.6L tells nothing.
only the real name works , getting specs on any engine.
do tell.

At what degree angle would I set my timing mark for Suzuki Vitara 16v engine

old post.
http://www.scantool.net/software/alldata-diy-1-month-subscription.html

the answer is this in USA, are you>?
open hood, look up ,behold the white sticker, and is there.
all suz. have a timing freeze jumper, starting in newer years its a factory only scan tool setting.
on yours, must 1.6L , the liters tell me what engine not valve count.
to set timing, you need a strobe light , got one?
1: hot motor.
2; idle rpm perfect. not too low, or high.
4: timing freeze, enabled.
5: set timing with strobe , using under hood sticker data.

How to tork the heads on a 1990 Toyota tercell?

Here is a picture of the torque sequence. First pic is for a 3A and 3A-C engine. Second one is for a 3E and 3E-E engine. Your federal emission sticker under the hood will tell you which one you have.

3A and 3A-C: torque in sequence in 3 steps. first to 14 Ft Lbs. Second pass to 30 Ft Lbs. and final pass to 43 Ft Lbs.

3E and 3E-E: First pass 22 Ft Lbs. Second pass to 36 Ft Lbs and final pass turn each bolt an addtional 90 degrees.

I just need to know what to set the timing at on a 1500 cc engine. I have no spec sticker to refer to. Thanks

This is taking me back some...have not seen one of these for years......

Spec's are usually a sticker on the underside of the hood with timing and valve gap clearances.

On the crank pulley is a notch or pointer for TDC . On the front cover, next to the pulley, are about 4 timing lines . The hood sticker tells you the notch to line position for timing as these lines on the cover where painted different colours.

Being as you have no sticker...time it at warm idle speed with the pulley pointer/notch to the first line on the cover with a timing light.

To highlight the marks you can dab them with White Out or similar. Without a timing light you can only approximate the timing be rolling the engine forward while watching for a spark from the #1spark lead jumping to ground with an old plug in the end of the wire.

Another way is to drive and then stop to advance the timing at the distributor until you hear pinging on full acceleration from low rpm's. Then back off the timing a few degrees until the pinging stops.

A l-o-n-g time ago....we used to time engines with a vacuum gauge plumbed into the manifold down stream of the throttle.

Run the warmed up engine at 3500 rpm steady, with vacuum lines to the distributor removed and plugged, advance the timing until highest vacuum reading...usually around 19 to 23 inches vac'. Then back the timing off 3 degrees or 2" to 3" inches of vacuum and leave it there.

Road test for performance and pinging.

What do you set the timing at? I need to know if I set it at 0 or at 26 degrees top dead center.

The timing specifications should be on a sticker either on the under side of the hood or on the cross member that houses the hood latching mechanism. Disconnect and plug the vacuum hose going to the distributor at the time of the procedure if this particular model is equipped with a vacuum line to distributor.

I dont know to how many degrees before dead center to set my cars timing?

your timing should be set at 10 degrees with the TE1 and E1 pins jumped in the diagnostic connector located under the hood (should be set at idle speed)
