Question about 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The codes that i got are po171 system to lean bank 1, and po131 02s ckt low volts 1. can anyone explain to me what to fix and what problems do these codes cause. the problem i have is car runs rough, idles very low almost stalling while stopping or stopped and when parked, hasnt stalled yet, exhaust stinks bad, sputters while driving. the problem is getting worse everyday. please help me.
Sounds just like mine and after a lot of headscratching it looks like mine has the common fault of a crack in the manifold which is allowing oxygen rich air in and giving false readings leading to the ecu overcompensating hence the lumpiness unless you have your foot down when theres plenty of output from the engine and correct readings. AND/OR a faulty sensor in the manifold. I know i have a crack in mine just above the donut joint i can hear and see it so have ordered a twinflex replacement stainless item will then get it back on computer and next step is replace sensor (twinflex around £100 for item on ebay)

Change fuel filter. you have a lean conditions and vacuum leak in intake check all vacuum hoses and pvc valve.replace plugs and wires if they have not been change.if all is good get it scan egr valve cause rough idling and stalling.
