My 99 ford escort zx2 over heats sometimes and i dont quite kno how to go about fixing this. i have no leaks. i know the head gasket is not blown. Also it mainly happens when stuck in traffic for a while. the fan does not run. the ac does not work. whats weird about it is that the guage will go almost all the way to hot but once i start driving it slowly goes down.

Could it be a thermostatno heat had to add radiator fluid to overflow and it is not overheating on the guage

If the fluid was low, you have a leak . If there are no external leaks then you might have a head gasket problem.

I have a 99 Ford escort zx2 and the enigne quit while is was driv

This is a common problem for a crankshaft sensor failure. When it fails, the engine can not start since the ECM doesn't know the proper position of the crankshaft to give ignition according to TDC (top dead Center). Therefore it doesn't matter how strong your battery is, it won't fire. The fire is only happens when an ignition happens at the highest compression point when a piston is at top and this is reported by the crankshaft sensor. Have this checked out and replaced. Good luck.
