WILL START BUT NOT TURN OVER - RANDOMLY

For the past couple of months my car would randomly start but not turn over. I would have to wait about 10-15mins and it would turn on. Now its doing it more often and i have to wait a couple of hours for it to turn on. I've had the fuel pump and fuel filter replaced. No one seems to have a clue...If you can give me any ides I would really appreciate it

    let me ask again.

    Does the engine crank (turn over) when you turn the key to "Start"?

    DOes it try to fire when it is cranking?

Mine just did the same thing. A guy from AAA came out and turned trhe power on in the car then took out the relays (under the hood huge black fuses) and put them right back. This reset the relay for the fuel pump and it started right up. He said the relay gets caught up in these cars.

98 GRAND PRIX WONT CRANK SOMETIMES

This is a trick some folks do to figure out if it's the starter. When the car doesn't crank, take something like a bat or a metal bar and hit the starter and few times. If the car starts right away then it's your starter, otherwise you might consider the fuel pump relay/fuel pump.

Check all the connections to the BCM for corrosion, and spray some WD-40 on them and wiggle them. See if that changes anything. Look for loose connections or damage.

Is your theft light flashing. If it is try this. I learned this from emission wiz Put your key in turn it on dont start wait 10 mins remove key wait 10 seconds repeat this a total of 3 times. If that dont work try a different key do the same thing. This relearns your key to the ignition it started with Gm cars and trucks from 1999 to to 2006. It is a big problem but there is no recall that I know of. If that dont work a dealer needs to probably replace and reprogram your ignition switch and keys

My '95 Thunderbird wil turn over but randomly will not start.

Your crank sensor may be really dirty and can't get a good signal from the reluctor near the balancer. Check the wiring harness to it as well. You may need a new crank sensor.

A common cause for this, asuming no check engine light, is a leaking fuel ressure regulator. When they fail, they leak fuel into the vacuum line causing a very rich condition- basically flooded.
