If the vehicle was hooked up to a jumper, one with sufficient power and still all you got was just clicks, i would imagine that it is either a starter relay or a starter. If you can hear the starter try to move, more likely the starter is bad, but if it is more of a electronic click then chances are its the relay.

Unfortunately sounds like faulty solinoid on the starter motor, youll need to replace the starter motor or if you handy just the solonoid on the starter motor, but for ease and assurance of problem fixed i would replace the hole starter motor, hope i have been of some help.

The ground should connect to the motor and the motor should connect to the body or chassis. Pour some water on the connection to the engine and the battery terminals. If it is a bad connection things should improve. If you jump start, the donor vehicle needs to be running at a fast idle.

2012 VW Jetta TDI battery won't hold charge and car only clicks and won't start

You need to charge your battery up more. Either get a battery charger or leave the jumper cables hooked up for a longer period of time.
Your battery was probably completely dead. You might even need a new battery...they really don't like to be completely drained.

Car won't start unless jumped off. Can the fuseable link on the postive cable prevent the car from starting?

Difficult to say. If you are connecting the jumper cables to the battery posts, the only thing you are doing is boosting the voltage in the battery.
A mechanic would check for voltage at the battery and the starter to check the cables.

Check for a weak solenoid (spelling) on top of starter. Magnet too weak to throw out the bendix.

Car makes a click click but won't turn over..It has been cold

If battery is flat (discharged) that could be one of the problems. Charge the battery or try jump starting from another vehicle, if possible. If it still don't start after trying those two things, it's probably the starter gone bad.
If it starts after charging or jumping, have your battery load tested and
your alternators output checked. Make sure you didn't leave something on for example headlights or something plugged into accessory outlet, could be the reason battery went flat.
In a nut shell, one of these caused this. Bad battery, bad alternator, bad starter or something draiedn battery. Hope this helps.

The first thing i would do is to have the battery tested, most problems occur due to a weak battery so i would start by having the battery tested first you may have a low weak battery thats why you were able to jump start it . good day.
