We had the same problem with our 98 Windstar. We found out that spraying all the locks with wd40 partially helped. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 95 ford windstar door ajar

These switches are inside the doors attached to the door latch assembles. If you know some one with a scan tool you can go into the body computer and see which one is showing open when all the doors are closed. The most likly one is the drivers side door or the two in the rear gate. I've replaced those the most.If you don't want to replace them you can unplug them and the lights will go off. Hope this helps. If you need more info let me know> Thanks Dan

SOURCE: 2003 Ford Windstar Power Window Failure

I have the same issue, but mine got a little worse as time went on. I got a new motor for and when I took the door apart I had to lower the window. so I had to plug the switches back in, and what do you know it started working. so I tested for 15 mins stiaght and it statred working every time I pushed the button. So, I would try that first before you spend over $70 dollars just for the part.

Rear hatch door in ford windstar-mechanism came apart

My back hatch would not open but it appears the lock was sticking and the return spring to the handle is broken. We used the key to unlock the back door and then door opened. Then husband sprayed WD 40 in all the lock holes. Now once we open the door we have to push the handle back down as return spring is still missing but the door opens :) . My van is a 2002 Ford Windstar.

I purchase a new remote control for a 2001 ford winstar i need to know how to program it to van.

To reprogram the transmitters yourself, place the key in the ignition and
turn from LOCK to OFF and cycle between OFF and ON eight times in
rapid succession (within 10 seconds) ending in the ON position. After
doors lock/unlock, press any control on all transmitters (up to four).
With each control press of the transmitters, the door should cycle
(lock/unlock) to confirm programming. When completed, turn the
ignition to OFF. The door locks should cycle (lock/unlock) one last time
to confirm completion of programming. NOTE:This will not work with command start fobs.

2000 Windstar - key fob works for all doors EXCEPT drivers door. Key also doesn't work in drivers door.

The door locking mechanism and actuators are the most likely issue here. Very unliekly that the key fob is the problem. not sure about he problem with the drivers door lock, could be dirty, damaged or not the original that matches the key. have you tried graphite?

1999 - 2000 ford winstar sel power locks very weak ...hardly work work erratically...driver and passenger locks do not lock or unlock automatically.....8-(

On the 2000 Windstar that I was working on, the casing for the door lock actuators had split and the lock knob on the top of the door would twitch when I hit the button, but would not lock or unlock fully. I replaced the door lock actuators (in stock at my local dealership) and cleared up the problem. Also check the bushings that link the rods inside the doors. They are plastic and occasionally wear out

How do you program the key flob? Can you do this yourself our is this a dealer job. If yes to the dealer any other way to have this done cheaper? This is a 2000 ford windstar with 4 buttons on the remote.

From the owners manual.
1. Turn ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, with the 8th time ending in
RUN. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming mode.

2. Within 20 seconds press any button on first keyless remote. Door locks will cycle
to confirm programming.

3. Within 20 seconds, press any button on second keyless remote. Door locks will
cycle again to confirm programming.

4. Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

I am wanting to know where the door light is on the door jam on my 1999 ford windstar lx......i am trying to program a key fob and need to find the door light to press in......

i think you should cycle the key on-off-on-off like 8 or ten times ending in on position, the locks will cycle and then press a key on the remote, the locks should cycle noting it programmed the remote, and do another or turn the key off. then try it
